My husband and I are contemplating adoption and exploring options in the UK, but we would also like to consider adoption from Gambia (my husband is Gambian)to the UK. It seems that adoption is very common in Gambia but is generally by the extended family and done on an informal basis. Does anyone have any experience of more formal adoption which would be needed if we were to bring the child to the UK.
Any advice of how we should go about this? I have been in touch with the SOS children's village (we already sponsor a girl there) but they don't do adoption.
