I WILL NEVER, EVER JOIN THE APRC GOVERNMENT-MC CHAM DECLARES-HE SAYS DARBOE IS HIS POLITICAL STAR!!!!!

BY AN EDITOR

Alhagie MC Cham, former Minister in the First Republic has denied joining the APRC, saying that joining the Jammeh government has never cross into his mind. Mr.Cham, a veteran politician said the news on his defection to the APRC was brought to his notice by his colleagues and well wishers amidst wild reports circulating in the country that he and Assan Musa Camara had defected to the APRC.

MC CHAM SAYS ONLY DARBOE AND

NO TO JAMMEH!!!!

Speaking from his Banjul home this morning, MC Cham, ran into laughter saying” Me joining the APRC? Me joining the APRC? No, no, no. That is not true. I belong to no party, but Ousainou Darboe.” said the popular politician, who spoke to the Freedom Newspaper Editor in an exclusive interview.

MC Cham, wondered why people should think that he will ever join the APRC. “I’m not going to ever, ever join the APRC. It has never cross my mind to join the APRC. “ Mr.Cham fumed.

His reaction followed the massive defection of self proclaimed opposition supporters to the Ruling APRC. MC Cham told the Freedom Newspaper that he had many name shakes who are called MC Cham, but he MC will never join the Jammeh government.

Attempts to reach Assan Musa Camara, failed as he was said to be out of his house at the material time. Assan Musa Camara, who was tasked with chairing NADD party actitivities never showed up at the Brikama Saturday rally, amidst reports that he joined the APRC. Mr. Camara is said to be disappointed by the opposition leadership on their failure to come together under one umbrella to launch a unified front against incumbent President Jammeh. This paper will interview Mr.Camara in due course to seek his reaction on his alleged recent defection to the APRC.

Editor’s note: To err is human and we therefore apologize to MC Cham and his opposition colleagues for any inconvenience our story might have caused to them. We have no intention of smearing his unshaken political credibility. Ours is to report the news and not to take sides. We appreciate his timely reaction to set the records straight. Once again, we deeply regretted any inconvenience this report might caused to Cham and his colleagues.

It is due to such kind of irresponsible and sensational reportings that eventually led up to the breaking up of the NADD coalition. You guys should tap your shoulders for being the messengers and agents of division within the opposition camp. The struggle continues.

You are on spot Nyancho. Pa Nderry and his agents have caused so much damage to NADD by his rushy and iresponsible reporting. One wonders if its because of ignorance or selfishness? He and his informers within NADD created the suspicion in the first place by bias reporting of details from the executive meetings.

Well, we can't cry over spilt milk and lets hope they too have learnt their lessons of what iresponsible reporting can cause.

Well Mr. Sowe, I may agree with you that our journalists should always try to get confirmation of their reporting before going to press or atleast put a forwarding note indicating to the readers that the particular story concerned is not yet independently confirmed, so that the reader could maintain personal reservations.
All of us have advised Pa Nderry and other journalists to desist from the rush to report stories of vital importance to our nation.

On the issue of NADD split. I don't think we should attribute the whole problem to the journalists.

There are leaders who are criticised more than the ones who letf NADD and yet still they maintained the ideals that made them members of the organisations they belong to.

Was'nt the writting on the wall since the initial mobilisation of the different parties to join NADD. These too parties were always reluctant. When NADD was to be presented to the diaspora and lunched in America, the same brother did'nt want to join his fellows but waited for some time and left for a so-called family visit that was spent in multiple olitical rallies.

NADD registered as a party. As a man of law, instead of condemning his colleagues and using this as one of the two pricipal causes of his resignation, don't you think that if the guy wanted to, he could have backed his parliamentary colleagues to present a bill in the National Assembly given that we now have the MOU signed by the APRC, to re-invoke the second round of voting in the name of democracy?

Don't you think that their discrepancies regarding his endorsement of the NADD MOU in which the principles guiding NADD as a transitional political entity for five years and all that entails are categocally stipulated and he gave a statement even when he left saying that these priciples are still valid for him.

Why was he insisting that the UDP was still a part of NADD when he was conravening the NADD MOU?

Why hav'nt yet explained the details of the causes of mistrust and how they manifested themselves?

All the other leaders have expresed themselves openly during the period of confusion but not him.

As for the NRP, there is really nothing to say but pure opportunism which has started to hunt them already.

to conclude, I would just say that, if we believe in the NADD MOU, political pgram and manifesto, then the thing to do is to get the voter to understand them as oppose to the ones of the other parties and alliance for them to decide.

The whole idea of a political platform is to transform ourselves and our nation but not to try and get members at all cost. The Gambia's existence is not going to end if NADD dos'nt win the elections this year. This is a long and protracted struggle. We just need to convince each other and don't try to find scapegoats for our dishonesties or failures.

This is a period in which all Gambians need to show their true colours. Noone has the monopoly of the truth. All of us are partners with equal stake in this endeavour. Without the people's support, neither Halifa, Darboe, Jammeh could claim success at all.

None of them are more important than the intrest of the Gambian masses.
