I am interested in this. I have registered a website name.....gambiashop.co.uk..... I was hoping when time permits to set up a site selling Gambia made goods. The idea was 3 fold: To give Gambian traders a larger market place eg wood carvers, jewellers etc.... and therefore improve their income, to make a profit for myself (of course) and to donate a portion of profits (10%?) to my charity in Kolior.
IF it was a success I would like to give out business bursaries and travel/education bursaries to Gambians from my profits. Especially for teacher training.
Because of my own life being a bit of a train crash at the moment I havent got any further than registering the name and idea.
I was thinking about this from the point of view of what tourists would want to buy, so maps, books etc would be good too....
But what about Gambians in UK? What Gambian products do you miss being able to buy (eg foodstuff) Or can you get everything already?
Do you think this idea would work?????
I have lots of ideas...just no time or skill to implement them!!! |
