COLD HANDS OF DEATH.

O death, you are not a friend
You are an enemy
You are so cold
Cutting bonds of relations
Time and again.

Why all these gaps?
You took khaira, laila
Maira, Baira, Aira
And all the good heroes
Ever created on earth.

Sit and relax for a moment
And reflect on your deeds
And some day comes your turn
When your soul will answer too
In similitude to what you do.

So next in turn
Is someone some where
But you don’t discriminate
But a wrong wind blowing around
Doing wrong without ever a right.

I was wondering if by chance
You will take a break
And leave the creations alone
Only by God’s ruling
Owner of all thy souls.

hi Dalton1
I really like you poems, they are really deep. I write a little myself. What inspires you, do you take time to sit and think about what you are writing or does it just come to out of the bleu.?? Do you read your poems back and forth to see if you can wite it better tha you have already done? I have that habbit and I never ge to be satisfied with what I write, then when I give to someone to read they´ll tell e how good it is. Are you a writer or is this just a hobby?

Sibo,

u know, most of these writings here are not even edited, so to say-just 'chit-chat'

glad to know you write, sure you do. ablaze then! fire like your Jamaican's brethen will say , also 'ah huwa'.

in fcat, "what happens in vegas stays in vegas." you don't see most of these poems in another place, just here. a place, i am greatly in love with.

the poem above, sure you understand well, is an extended tribute to musa camara. i got me deeply thinking about the 'fool' death, who think it is fun to create gaps and breaking bonds. it (death) deserves a lash too, don't it? see color in red, something cultural. obituarries according to traditional believes are red-pen inked.

oh yes, i take poetry as hobby. thank you for liking my poems. don't be too humble not cut any un-cut 't' or un-dotted 'i'.

God almighty give us a blessed day. amen.

Well done Delton, am a great admirer of your poems. They always carry something special and i agreed with Sibo, they are deep in deed. Keep it up bro.

Please allow me to join Santanfara dedicating this special one to Ous, whoes untimely death came as a shock to me over the weekend. I knew the guy since back home, we started Lower six the same year though i went to different school. We met in the uk few times as well. Ous was a decent, kind hearted, peaceful young man who loved and is very much loved by his family. My thoughts are with the family, I remember visiting them when he was taken ill shortly after starting six form. His younger sister was a good friend of mine. May the Almighty bless his soul and grant him ever lasting peace. Am truely sad.

Dalton , this is just a bit of a commentary based on my own understanding. It is not really a literary critcism.

Nice poem. I like the arrangement of the stanzas. The text color ,
red is symbolic of the danger of death and the damage it can do. But a bit of irony , for death that is so cruel by "cutting bonds of relations"as symbolized by red ink is also "so cold". The author appears resentful at the creepy conduct of death that picks among the humankind without remorse yet without discrimination; so he (the author) wishes unto death as death do unto others.

Kay, i so dearly mourn with Uncle Santa and Karl. I pray that the departed soul rest in perfect peace.

I appreciate all your comments. I didn't realize that poem was that much observed, but as you put it, the foe death is so "cruel".

Kay, lets have you swing us with a poem.

i was tangled on july 4th and kid's birthday. i recently participated in a soccer game, to which i scored the equalizing goal.

happy week!

Here is a piece Dalton. This is an old poem written shortly after the 1994 coup in the Gambia.

THE PENDULUM :
the pendulum swings
Left to right
To right our wrongs they said
Suddenly the pendulum swings
Right to left
To the barracks
To right our wrongs they said
Political power swings
Civil to military
To arrests and detentions
Suddenly my freedom suffered
Suddenly political power swings
Forward to backward
Our democracy suffered
Suddenly I had to leave
Suddenly there isn't a bell that tolls any more
But a hush ordained by faith
Even while he claim a planet to his name
And the people blank , hush
The pendulum swings
From civil to military
Our freedom suffered
Suddenly I had to leave.

Nice one kay, and i bashed with you as the string of that ball goes 'to and fro'. Imaginarily, i saw the little ball hitting to the gutters some, to the graves some, to the palace some, to jails some, to exile some, to homeless some, to slavery some et cetera. Thanks for a great poem. and i go...

No swings are constant
Indifference to Galileo’s science
No swings are beneficial
Indifference to Galileo’s niche light
No swings are measured
Indifference to Galileo’s oscillatory
That string should burn to ashes
thus ensuring total emancipation
freedom, justice and equality.

I call that swing the 'tsunami broom.' have yourself a nice week.
