I dont know but when I look at the situation in Gambia closely,I dont see any real changes comming soon for the simple fact that i dont see any real alternative.I have seen the opposition with all their constant wranglings but not putting anything concrete to the table.sometimes the devil you know is better than the angel you dont know.what im afraid of is power hungry desperation will let people loose their minds and put the interest of the country in jeopardy. We all need change but the opposition should come with something that will convince us that they are better than the current regime. So far, they have not convince me one bit.Until they do so and GROW-UP,i dont see them anywhere near winning the elections.
TANK U, My dear You have said it all full stop.Thank you.nothing more, nothing less. But what can any one do to bring them together? Mankajang Janyanfara.
It will take a miracle to bring the opposition together to win the next elections. They've had five years to get their act together and to work out a viable strategy. I think one of their biggest problems has been believing their own propaganda, with their only objective was to get rid of Jammeh. But they have not thought through proper policies to give the Gambian people.
The opposition messed up after the last general elections by opting out of the democratic process living a big vaccum in Gambia politics. This was a Darboe OJ policy and guess what it backfired big time. Even if opposition parties have to operate in exile they continue to be effective opposition as governments in waiting.
NADD Coalition hadn't done the proper research neccessary in preparation for this years elections by right that work could of been undertaken since the last elections end instead they've pursued a negative strategy and come unstuck.
Meanwhile Gambia is still there and although progress still has far to go it has been making more progress than in all the years of the first republic even Jawara has been photographed with President Jammeh on independence day. What a turn around. Plus there is now a climate of reconcilliation and a halt to hostilities with the release of opposition leaders.
I don't see Darboe in the running at all he seems to be more out for self than anything else, as his spilt with NADD seems to validate.
Anyway I suppose its better for opposition to make as much mistakes as they possible whilst outside of power because they could not afford to make so much cock ups within State House.
Maybe at the next elections a new opposition party with a real clarity of vision will emerge who can give Gambian people more choices. Until then the APRC will remain in power. That's my prediction.
