Calm down people and try to see things from Sankareh's "special" eyes. If you scan through the picture with "special" eyes, you would have noticed that Jammeh's left hand is full to the brim. Don't ask me where to get the "special" eyes. Ask Sankareh. CHEI FITNA. It seems like Nderry fever is very contagious.

Sulu, i've been following developments between yourself and Dalton1 BUT you seem to be the true journalist here. DALTON1 is so full of anger and arrogance and ofcourse a self portrait intellectual.

I am only being honest here and hold no grudges to anyone. Most of these socalled online papers don't even edit their articles properly and you cannot therefore help but clearly notice the poor grammar, spelling and sentence construction.

Mansasulu, the majority of people who imitate philosophers confuse the true with the false, and they do nothing but deceive and pretend knowledge. If you can find out where to get tickets why not Dalton1 - a journalist able to do just that instead of trying one the blame game.

I am glad the issue is at rest

let us say the truth when it matters. i am not trying to appease any one but truth be told the above statements by electric are unjustified against dalton. the incident has been blown out of proportion and it end up fluelling bad blood but to say dalton is arrogant and self-portrait interllecual is untrue. how many journalist do we interact here at the bantaba who are open about who they are and what media outlet they are associated with ? electric ,dalton has been contributing in the bantaba for ages now and he is a man of different calibre .he entertain when that is needed ,he write serious stuff's ,he engage in combatative discussions and he also comments on issues affecting blacks and african in general. the man is only 29 years old.
we may disaggree and exchange bitter words but that in itself doesn't say who some one is. the man treats every debater with a codial respect and utmost humbleness . i some times critise gainako's take on some subjects but the man is more than happy to engage is constructive discussions .let us not trample on our young minds. intelligence should nurtured and handle with care. we have lots of intelligent brothers and sisters arround. from sab to kondo and big karamba ,madis who is also all round ,kobo the democrat true and true ,uncle baldeh and uncle momodou himself. if some one goes wrong ,we can put each other straight but let us use appropriate words to address adverse situations.
mansa himself shows true signs of an eloquent writer ,so the ' hot tempers brought some negatives and positives ' let us move on ,i just wanted to clarify .thanks electric for joining us here in BANTABA we need you .wasalam.

Uncle Santa;

But lets change the game a bit. You enjoy the links below. Enjoy the story of Moses (PBUH). Enjoy the quotes from Malcolm. And i agree with you ;there is time to be "hot" and "cold". That's it right there.

The Story of Moses and The Guide
By: Ibn Kathir

Nabi Musa, or the Tomb of Prophet Moses (pbuh), lies 11 km south of Jericho and 20 km east of Jerusalem in the Judean wilderness.Although the last chapter in the Book of Deuteronomy tells us that Moses (pbuh) died and was buried on the other side of the Jordan River (Duet 34) and that no one knew where his Tomb was. Muslim tradition holds that Salah Eddin had a dream in which it had been revealed to him the site where the prophet Moses (pbuh) was to be respected and subsequently he built a cenotaph and on top of it a mosque.
One day, Moses delivered such an impressive sermon that all who heard it were deeply moved. Someone in the congregation asked: ” O Messenger of Allah, is there another man on earth more learned than you?” Moses replied: “No!”, believing so, as Allah had given him the power of miracles and honored him with the Torah.

However, Allah revealed to Moses that no man could know all there is to know, nor would one messenger alone be the custodian of all knowledge. There would always be another who knew what others did not. Moses asked Allah: “O Allah, where is this man? I would like to meet him and learn from him.” He also asked for a sign to this person’s identity.

Allah instructed him to take a live fish in a water-filled vessel. The point at which the fish disappears, he would find the man he sought. Moses set out on his journey, accompanied by a young man who carried the vessel with the fish. They reached a place where two rivers met and decided to rest there. Instantly, Moses fell asleep.

While he was asleep, his companion saw the fish wriggle out of the vessel into the river and swim away. However, he forgot to relate this incident to Moses. When he awoke, they continued their journey until they were exhausted and hungry. Moses asked for his morning meal. Only then did his companion recall that the fish they had brought with them had gotten away. Hearing this, Moses exclaimed: “This is exactly what we are seeking!”

They quickly retraced their steps to the place where the rivers met and where the fish had jumped out. There they found a man, his face partly covered with a hood. One could tell by his aura that he was a saintly man. He was Al-Khidr, the guide.

Allah the Almighty narrates in the Quran:

And (remember) when Moses said to his servant: “I will not give up (traveling) until I reach the junction of the two seas or (until) I spend years and years in traveling.”

But when they reached the junction of the two seas, they forgot their fish, and it took its way thought the sea as in a tunnel. So when they had passed further on (beyond that fixed place), Moses said to his boy-servant: “Bring us our morning meal; truly, we have suffered much fatigue in this, our journey.”

He said: “Do you remember when we rested on the rock? I indeed forgot the fish, none but Satan made me forget to remember it. It took its course into the sea in a strange (way)!”

(Moses) said: “That is what we have been seeking.” So they went back retracing their footsteps.

Then they found one of Our devotees, unto whom We had bestowed mercy from Us, and whom We had taught knowledge from Us.

Moses said to him (Khidr) “May I follow you so that you can teach me something of that knowledge (guidance and true path) which you have been taught (by Allah)?”

He (Khidr) said: “Verily! You will not be able to have patience with me! And how can you have patience about a thing which you know not?”

Moses sad: “If Allah will, you will find me patient, and I will not disobey you in aught.”

He (Khidr) said: “Then, if you follow me, ask me not about anything till I myself mention it to you.”

So the two went off, until when they embarked on a boat and the man (Khidr) made a hole in it. Moses said: “Did you make a hole in it to drown its people? Verily, you have done Imra - a Munkar (evil, bad, dreadful) thing.”

He (Khidr) said: “Did I not tell you, that you would not be able to have patience with me?”

(Moses) said: “Call me not to account for what I forgot, and be not hard upon me for my affair (with you).”

Then they both proceeded, till they met a boy, he (Khidr) killed him. Moses said: “Have you killed an innocent person who had killed none? Verily, you have done Nukra a great Munkar (prohibited, evil, dreadful) thing!”

(Khidr) said: “Did I not tell you that you can have no patience with me?”

(Moses) said: “If I ask you anything after this, keep me not in your company, you have received an excuse from me.”

Then they both proceeded, till, when they came to the people of a town, they asked them for food, but they refused to entertain them. Then they found therein a wall about to collapse and he (Khidr) set it up straight. (Moses) said: “If you had wished, surely you could have taken wages for it!”

(Khidr) said: “This is the parting between me and you, I will tell you the interpretation of (those) things over which you were unable to hold patience.

“As for the ship, it belonged to poor people working in the sea. So I wished to make a defective damage in it (Lit., “to cause a fault in it” - i.e., to make it temporarily unserviceable), as there was a king after them who seized every ship by force.

“And as for the boy, his parents were believers, and we feared lest he should oppress them by rebellion and disbelief. So we intended that their Lord should change him for them for one better in righteousness and near to mercy.

“And as for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the town; and there was under it a treasure belonging to them; and their father was a righteous man, and your Lord intended that they should attain their age of full strength and take out their treasure as a mercy from your Lord. And I did it not of my own accord. That is the interpretation of those (things) over which you could not hold patience.

"I don't mean go out and get violent; but at the same time you should never be nonviolent unless you run into some nonviolence. I'm nonviolent with those who are nonviolent with me. But when you drop that violence on me, then you've made me go insane, and I'm not responsible for what I do." Hon.MX [RIP]

"I believe in the brotherhood of man, all men, but I don't believe in brotherhood with anybody who doesn't want brotherhood with me. I believe in treating people right, but I'm not going to waste my time trying to treat somebody right who doesn't know how to return the treatment." Hon. MX [RIP]

I got a little to add on to this topic, but I strongly stand by the the online news pappers, hence Jammeh has supressed them at every angle at home, why should they not take him on the net to see what he can do about that.Even at this, gamtel allowed to be such a poodle of him to bluck these papers ip addresses in the Gambia, so where is transparency he was advocating for.To me jammeh created this online attacks for himself for I believe what some of them are writting online would dare not put that on their papers if they are in the Gambia. You can kick someone out of your house but you got limited powers to prevent him from going to anotherman's house.

Jammeh is a TINY DOT on the global information super highway. It is late to repair him. He does not have the raw materials of a proper human. Exposing him on the net is only the least that he deserves. Let us bear in mind that by the time this treacherous being disappears, other creatures like him will want to surface. In the process of undoing Jammeh, we have to take on the added task of undoing the very environment that permits his existence and those like him. Our collective task is multi-fold. Jammeh has to be named and shamed for real good reasons. A man who kills and steals does need naming and shaming. As young Christian boy, the priest would have told Jammeh "thou shall not steal, thou shall not kill, thou shall not covet thy neighbours' goods and thy neighbours' wife." To you Jamus Jammeh, hath thou forgotten what the mission priest told thee?

I am late in joining the debate here because I was preoccupied with other things. I however, followed the debate both on the story on Gainako and Jammeh's picture.

In sincerity, we are devoting our intellectual energy into nothing productive. Apart from the joy of charting on the web we cannot accomplish anything going back and fort with such debates.

We should not keep our eyes off the bigger picture. Gambia's problems are bigger than Jammeh and any body or any single issue. To focus on issues like the picture is to distract us from the bigger picture - how we can use our brains to change things in one way or the other.

I honestly think the picture is one of the cheapest shots anyone can direct towards Jammeh. What have the publisher of the picture try to accomplish in putting up the photo? I can only see one goal only attracting more readership with the cheapest shot. At the end of the day there is no accomplishment.

On the issue of Gainako's story, I think I have some credibility in speaking on this issue. While we strive to inform our readers the truth and only the truth we are not perfect in what we do. We are young aspirating journalists and we are learning on the Job.

We make mistakes sometimes without knowing we did? It is part of the learning process and we will do our best at all times to learn and improve.

I had access to the story before it went public and I joined my colleagues and sign off on publishing the story. However, we were very much aware that there was a risk in the story for someone who was waiting to jump on us to use this story. So it is not a surprise that we got some negative reaction on the story.

From an individual point of view, I am against throwing cheap shots or having them thown at me. We do not, and I repeat do not, want to criticize for the sake of it. We always strive to make sure that when we criticize, we have a valid point to back our assertion. This may have been missed in this story. We are not a tabloid paper.

We want to reassure or readers that out of the hundreds of stories we published this is so far the only negative reaction we got publicly. We accept your criticism in good faith and promise to work hard to improve at all times.

Those who think we exist because of Jammeh are either not reading our stories or confuse which paper they read.

Bro,
I have said many a times that we must start something in the Gambia to make our views known somehow. Why can't some of these newspapers
operate in the Gambia? The point and Foroya does.

is the basis of a coup a picture that shows what exactly, come on now, get a grip, either publish the picture you hinted at or dno't. What poor journalism.
I personally do not think such a picture exists.

Thanks Santanfara for your comments as I felt really irritated to personilse issues and tarnishing each others image in an open forum for EXCHANGE OF IDEAS AND ENTERTAINING OURSELVES AS LEISURE.

Dalton is resourceful and highly intelligent and we are proud to consider him as a Gambian intellectual. WHO SHOULD SET THE STANDARDS FOR US??. Nothing can demoralised you brother Dalton. The sky is the limit for you.

ANYONE WHO HAS A FEEDBACK, WHETHER NEGATIVE OR POSITIVE and can point out ANY ERRORS OR OMISSIONS ON ANY ARTICLE FOR OUR GAMBIAN ON-LINE WEBSITES, please address them directly to their editors if it troubles you and you are not happy with it; as words of ADVISE.

Alhassan, you ask why the Gambia onlines will not stay to operate in Gambia. This is 21st Century, a fact you know better. Why will anyone risk setting a printing press on Gambian soil with the Jammeh killer machinery when in cyber space, you can land flat on the president's fat head without saying sorry? You sound as if things are normal in Gambia. That is far from it.
