Jailed Member of Gambia's National Assembly who was jailed for possession of cannabis six years ago, is said to have been set free. His moment of freed arrived when president Jammeh felt it was time to exercise the presidential prerogatives once more. While members of Musa's family may be feeling happy to have him join them, the Laws of Gambia are being twisted and controlled by a president who thinks he himself is THE LAW to punish and to pardon willy nilly.

Senior Karamba,

What a societal nicety. He was socially interactive person. There shouldn't be any problem with the pardon, if;

-he can adjust to be counseled
-he is the breadwinner of his family
-he wasn't using his gains to sponsor terror
-he was a first offender

If the above is true, i join his family to welcome the former mp, who was a very helpful person to his constituency. See, plea for mitigation should be given weight where person is a first offender, willing to change for the better, and a bread winner to a broad family.

The very laws under which he was tried is something with a redflag. I am not saying he was tried wrong.

See, with me, it comes down to those oppressing innocent souls and still walking scot-free in the hear of Banjul. I hope my line of argument or stance will not be misunderstood.

And i am in total disagreement with Jammeh's type of mercy. Biting and chewing like a dirmo (rat).

thanks for sharing.

Dalton1,

Certainly, I understand your point fully. From what is gathered around gossip corners, Musa was a victim of greater conspiracies. I would prefer not to have people treated for someone else's joy of victimising others. It is not good for us as a society to crawl under a merciless soul like Jammeh. He could not in a million years become our LAWS even if it pleases him to act as though he is THE LAW. On a passionate note, I wish Musa a happier reunion with his eager family.

thank you for your understanding. That's what i thought also.

A first offender, caught with drugs with a large family is given 8 years. A killer or murderer somewhere is given zero time. Isn't that truly twisted justice or some imbalance justice? The conspiracy is no surprise, and at the same time he was wrong to have possess the illegal material at the material time. but yes, me too, i thought i could wish him well openly without having to be accused of favoritism in this forum.

i thank you for understanding my take.

Somita you raised a good question. Musa was a lawmaker by profession and was very popular. I happened to know him through his friend who writes his speak for him. He got a good personality. However, for Ndene Faal, He is smart, intelligent, gentle with high personality couple with been a generous man. Despite his personality he was however a notorious drug smuggler. Is through circulating of fake dollars and smuggling of drugs he became suddenly be rich. The reason I said Ndene was a smartguy is because he was able to invest his money to build fancy storybuildings. I used to lived close to his multi million dalasi story at Kerr Sereign.
