Why cant that student directly apply instead of you putting them forward?

"...Verily, in the remembrance of Allâh do hearts find rest..." Sura Al-Rad (Chapter 13, Verse 28)

...Gambian by birth, Muslim by the grace of Allah...

i would not put them forward, but i would pass on the information, sometimes they hold themselves back because they think it is not for them.
if this scheme exists then let ordinary scholars apply, i have seen too much brain waste in Gambia becuase of lack of positive thinking. Some of the students i come across would score high in any mensa tests but the means to harness it and use it is lost for lack of motivation.

Why study medicine abroad. I thought our University has courses for that. We should save hard currency to get a favourable balance of trade and also reduce inflation.

300 schorlashisps with an average four year degree costing 10,000.00 dollars a year = 300x4(years)x10,000(per year)x28(exchange rate)=D336,000,000.00 or US$12,000,000.00

Well an investment in human capital will eventually trickle down. But we must learn how to retain such highly skilled Gambians when they come home. Good luck to those who are selected.

Well what do i know.

I think Kondorong has a really good point. With that kind of investment in The Gambia's university, students could stay in The Gambia and, to begin with, more highly skilled teachers with experience could be hired from "outside" to teach at the university. The idea being, that eventually, ALL the teachers at the university (apart from visiting professors etc) would be Gambian - not just some AND those teachers would have been trained locally. I wish.

Isn't the univesity going to be re-situated outside Brikama and isn't there a great deal of building work for a huge school and GTTI building going on around Siffoe? Wouldn't it be much better for all those students if there were lots of opportunities to stay ......

Naive, I know.

with this investment in gamiba colleges and university it would be good investment, but is this the first time that the president is offering this type of scholarship.
i think lemon time should spend one term teaching students, just think what they would know
