Bro santangfara, I didn´t hear anything that does not represent Jammeh´s natural demeanor. You should understand that as the wollofs saying goes "Buur du morromi baadoleh". So he therefore demonstrated his kingly manners and no matter what you think about him, he is the Buur of The Gambia.

The above was my verdict, was´nt that enough??

Breadman thats not enough as far am concern. Bad publicity, lack of good statesmanship, propaganda and MAGING GAMBIA ANOTHER HOST NATION FOR AIDS is not impressive. Other countries have more to do with AIDS than us either POLITICALLY AND FOR WORLD HEALTH. Think about the bigger picture than focusing in promoting an INDIVIDUAL. Continue showering PRAISE SINGING for "BURR GAMBIA". Jawara was there and now a commoner as no condition is permanent.

Thanks for your VERDICT

It is wrong to call Jammeh or any Gambian leader as "BURR GAMBIA" We do not have "BURR"- King. It is not proper that a person is elected to serve limited political term and purpose and next the person turns around and wants to be crowned KING. That is where Jammeh or any Gambian politician can get it all wrong. That mentality needs correction. Jammeh is not king. After Jammeh, no political appointment will be up to position of king. Gambia is the type of situation today because a man supposed to be on temporal political position ( A PRESIDENT) behaves and claims as (THE KING) There is a huge difference between A PRESIDENT and THE KING. Jammeh as president of Gambia means he is just one of the people who comes to serve a term of office. Others after him will also have to serve similar temporal roles. Now Jammeh refuses to recognise and to accept that it is all so temporal. That is enough for a national debate.

Well Karamba, how do you call president in wollof? I believe Jammeh will not just talk about this aids stuff all this time without hanging on to something. So I remain optimistic, although guarded.

Bread man, problem with Jammeh is he fantasized and pretend, obviously he is nothing like supperman. Even if he can cure aids, his approach is totally wrong and immature. World wide there are millions devoting their lifes to do something about HIV Aids. Why can he open up? With his claims, regularly giving and receiving honest feedback should be the number one priority for him to foster alliances on a common problem like this in order to accelerate or maximize the progress. This is not funny stuff.

Karamba, the question of Burr, Mansa, or President all means thesame. However, like any position, it's just "the Symbol of Wheel of fortune". If You're attached to the rim of the wheel, you will either be above going down or at the bottom going up." It seems Jammeh fails to realised that serving in his positions now, means he is already on his way down.

Bread Man,
Karl

What is called "BURR" in Wollof is nothing the same as PRESIDENT. We have heard about BURR BANJUL/ BANJUL MANSA. We heard about BURR SALOUM (King or Chief of Saloum)etc. What you need recognising is that these titles have been acquired by different processes. In Gambia, we use elections to choose A PRESIDENT who only has limited term of office. It is wrong by all considerations for one person to ascend on that seat and sticking on it for life. Traditional BURR or MANSA is different to PRESIDENT. To be ELECTED as PRESIDENT and sticking on as KING/BURR/MANSA is what the fact is pointing to. If you still think Jammeh is BURR/MANSA/KING, please accept disagreement. Unless we get fact of matters in their right order, we are in for more troubles. Can you dig out a word from the Gambian Constitution that relates KING/MANSA/BURR and PRESIDENT ? You see, dear good man, a DRIVER is not a PILOT. Yet they both serve the same purpose of moving passengers from A-B. If that helps you to appreciate where the bell rings, that's good.

Karamba, please don't get me wrong. The nearest meaning to the word president in our traditional languages is what i mean. Before the modern form of Governance and the term president, our ancestor use these words "burr or mansa" to described their leaders, elected or selected. These words "presidan or presidanno" as wollof and Mandinka may pronounce it respectively, are framed from English. True or false? I am not saying, the use of the words give Yaya or any so called elected president any tittle to stick to the seat for good. no! no! no Karamba dont interprete it that way. But could you kindly tell us the exect meaning of the word president in Wollof, Mandinka or in any of our local languages. I am not objecting to your point, it's true the context of these words has no place in our modern constitution. My refferance to terms in my previous posting was just for translation purpose from historical meanings. That all.
