COMMEMORATION OF FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF THE DEMISE OF COMRADE EBOU MADI SILLAH, OF BLESSED MEMORY
It is now one year since we lost our dear husband, brother, colleague and friend, Ebou Madi Sillah, on 5, February 2006. He is gone but, certainly, not forgotten. For this reason, his family, friends and colleagues have decided to commemorate the anniversary by celebrating his life through an exhibition to showcase his many faceted works which span almost all the disciplines in art, from fine art to sculpture.
The exhibition will take place at the Alliance Franco Gambianne from 19th April (Ebou's birthday) to 26 April 2007 when the exhibition will close with the launching of Ebou Sillah Memorial Foundation, a charity to raise funds to help sustain Ebou's heirs as well as support budding artists with a view to creating other "comrade."
The exhibition will be followed, on 28th April, by a Memorial Meeting of Ebou's family, friends, colleagues, patrons, former pupils and well wishers.
Ebou was not only a friend of the media, but by virtue of his work, he had a symbiotic relationship with the media that was mutually beneficial.
Cash or cheque donations can be made in the name of the Foundation and paid into its account with Trust Bank, No 110 624465 01. The Secretary General of the Foundation can also receive cheques drawn in the name of the Foundation.

A Tribute to Comrade Ebou Madi Sillah
IF I COULD
Comrade Ebou, if I could, I know I can,
I will sing you the song of Baninde.
For you have said no to oppression
For you have defied the oppressor through your work and deed.
If I could, I think I can
Praise you for putting back the honour of the meek and the pecked.
If I could,
I think I can,
Thank you for making us see that Art is change
And change is art.
If I could

Agree with you that Art lives forever while men and women come and go.
Comrade Ebou, while we put you to rest and bid our farewells,
We thank you again for the wisdom you bequeath to us -
The knowledge that Art is for ever
And that knowledge is power!
