As far as I am aware a bus/coach runs from The Gambia to Dakar but not the other way (Dakar to The Gambia). This is due to some dispute or other that I do not understand. But, do not take my word for it, the situation may be resolved by now.
If it is still the case it may be worth looking into the possibility of catching a bus/coach to the Gambian border walking across and catching a Gambian coach/bus to Banjul (or at least to the ferry terminal at Barra. Then you could get a taxi to you destination from the ferry terminal in Banjul).
I would advise you not to arrive at Senegal/Gambia customs at night. Following a visit to Senegal for medical treatment yesterday, my b/f arrived at customs at 1am this morning only to be told by the Gambian police that he'd have to wait until 5am to pass back into the country.
Anyhow, Jambo why am I typing you all this? I imagined you'd be familiar with Senegal/Gambia travel vagaries.
Good luck, safe journey.

There is a Bus station call Pompier(which means firefighter), where taxis for Banjul, Csamance and other parts of Senegal are stationed.
A piece of advice , if asked to transit via Koalack, try it not. This is becos the fare is greater and you may not arrive on time to catch taxis for Banjul, whcih may incur additional costs. Dakar-Banjul Direct. See you in Banjul |
