Calm down on him? But I was quite calm, brother. And Obama is my brother in four ways.
Monsieur Le Santanfara,
Asalamalaikum wa Rahmaullahi wa barakatuhu.
No apologies for being personal. Sorry.
I have kept the company of African Americans since I was a kid and we used to have Peace Corp volunteers – mostly African–Americans staying home with us in Sierra Leone. That I live in Sweden and not in Africa, the UK or the US is my fate. One thing I have in common with my Caribbean & African American brothers is the feeling of brotherhood, a common and shared history, language, music, culture and a deeper understanding, so that we don’t have to do a lot of explaining to one another, since we are mostly coming from the same space, sane history of hairstyles from Afro through Carl Lewis to the new new. I look like a lot of people and a lot of people look like me.
Having said that we must admit that there are some weird people in this world.
Now wouldn’t it be nice if Mother Theresa were president or better still the Peaceful Pope or the Archbishop of Canterbury, the chief Mufti of Caliphornia or the Supreme Ayatollah of America or Kofi Annan? Perhaps you would prefer Robert Fisk or George Galloway or Shaykh Dr.AbdalQadir As-Sufi ?

If the US pulled out of Iraq today, lock stock and barrel, who would be most happy and whose funeral would it be? Would it be peace in Iraq and goodwill to all men or would they be at each others throats again?

Everyone is unique to an extent: Barack Hussein Obama is no Yahya Jammeh or John Ernest Leigh type of being. His voice communicates a lot – beyond just voice or bodytalk. I would like to see him loosen up a little, to hear him rap on the campiagn trail. My impression is that Colin Powell comes on as a much calmer person. There are others.
Barack Hussein Obama on CBS’ 60 Minutes: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/02/11/60minutes/main2458530.shtml
The last time around, after I had listened to all the candidates, this was my favourite person for the job (all things considered, no doubt about it):
http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0geupT6R9BF5mUBNI9XNyoA?p=+General+Wesley+Clark+&ei=UTF-8&x=wrt
In the Middle of American efforts to bring stability to Iraq the Democrats to score more political points are saying this - and their saying does not blow away the roadside bombs and American bodies being sent back to their families in caskets.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/6352899.stm
Santanfara, even a “bad” brother is a brother. No doubt Obama has great abilities and exudes a lot of self-confidence. I am not aware of having anything against him – if he were a dictator he could decree that US pulls out of Iraq today it would be a major Shia vs. Sunni Muslim funeral as the other adjacent states and foreign fighters move in. Who will then be able to stop such a war? The last time around it was everybody ( apart from Syria and I think Libya) against the Islamic Republic of Iran who eventually ran out of ammunition and so the war came to an end with Saddam flying a few sorties over Tehran and Imam Khomeini (r.a.) drinking the poisoned chalice of accepting Saddam's terms of peace.
Iran might see itself as the leader of the Shia, but Iran is not an Arab nation and it is Najaf –Kufa, Kerbala –Samara etc that is the centre of Shiism - and yes there is Mashad in Iran. Iran did not convert to Islam and Shiism by accident or accidentally. I too did not make a Ziyarat to Imam Hussein alaihi salaam in Gema Seyyidina Hussein in Cairo, by accident and I was in that Masjid everyday for two months - and an equal number of visits to al-Azar which was started by Shia.
With the decimation of the Shia in Iraq (1 million such refugees in Syria) and with the tragic daily bombs, bloodshed and funerals in Iraq, that decimation is continuing with Iraq as the theatre of war and so the centre of power (if not authority) which had shifted from Najaf to Qum during Saddam’s reign of terror on the Shia and Kurds - should, with peace return to Najaf, where learning and scholarship should flourish once again and the development in Islam continue (Since the gates of Ijitihad were never closed by the Shia).
http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0oGkkq7U9BF320A1jFXNyoA?p=the+gates+of+Ijitihad+were+never+closed+by+the+Shia&ei=UTF-8&x=wrt
But if /and as the war continues, what is the fate of Shia? Your answer is that it is in the hands of Allah and not merely in Iranian military capability:
http://www2.irna.com/en/news/view/line-24/0702127414113029.htm
Iran has learned the lesson and is not about to run out of ammunition or to neglect the plight of the Shia brothers and sisters uncertain future in Iraq.
Don’t forget that it was USA & the UK who toppled Saddam – it was not Iran and the Shia Muslims who directly accomplished that. When the Americans and Brits leave it’s difficult to foresee the security vacuum ( if you can call it that) being filled by the Security forces of the Iraqi government which will have been trained and equipped and put in place by those who toppled Saddam – because I think that although it’s a question of majority rule – that goes with Western Democracy – yet the minorities in Iraq, the Sunni Arabs and to a lesser extent the Kurds ( who are mostly Sunni) and would probably go for Kurdistan ( and the vast oil resources that fall within their territory.
The minorities and the majorities have their supporters and best scenario is that it doesn’t get back to Square One: a repeat of the Iran- Iraq war. Round Two. Round one was won by Sunni. But only time will tell and in Shii these are Mahdist times, according to rumour.
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=+Imam+Mahdi++&btnG=Search&meta=
Hussein OBama is a good guy, even if at times a little arrogant (but so are those politicians who think that they are the most gifted (above all) and to lead the US into the next era of glory you've got to be alittle arrogant. It's not a office for the too humble: tough decisions have to be made. Action taken. It's not the same as being president of the Red Cross or the Magen David Adom or the Crescent Moon.
Lets see how he ( Obama) reacts and leads after the next major terrorist attack(S) which I have a feeling will happen in the US, before the next American presidential election. In time the terrorist might demand that US become an Islamic state and that Barack himself convert - or else, no more diplomacy.
Have a Good day ST,
Wa Salaam,

Cornelius claims not to be anti Islamic and yet he can’t avoid a single posting without naming Islam or connecting Islam to his posting. I see his mission to clearly focus on Muslims as terrorists and that’s what he is programmed to do.
I sometimes wonder why Admin has not kicked his *** off this forum because he sometimes think its a Middle Eastern Forum. |

Peace HO Galo Sowe!
If we were all as silent as you are on this forum, then the Forum would hardly exist. If just five of my agents were on this Forum – any section – it would be a much livelier place
Of course I am not anti-Islamic! Whatever makes you think that?! You ought to say ASTAGFIRULAH RABI WA AUTAUBU ILAHI - for accusing me falsely and it is written “THOU SHALT not bear false witness against thy neighbour.”
Feel free to occupy yourself with what I post instead of what others post and what you yourself are free to post/ write/contribute. The Gambia is only the smallest country in Africa, but the minds of Gambians are not “ small” ( that’s what the Jamaicans call the other guys from the smaller Islands, “ Smallies” but here in cyberspace , as you know, the WWW is quite large and there’s lots of propaganda out there – occupying so much space.
I do exercise free will and in relative freedom. I am not “programmed” - not every philosopher is. I’m contained alright, circumscribed by sanity even if that’s not precisely what’s to be found in some of the Islamic hotspots right now.
The subject is Obama and US Foreign policy with Iraq in mind - in particular.
Our concern is to bring peace to Iraq and to the whole of the Middle East, to cool down the rhetoric away from Armageddon scenarios of nuclear holocausts.
About Islam - those who know me and are deeper in Islam than your superficial comments betray, will not say the things you say. I have a clean bill of health from more than one Ayatollah and an even cleaner bill of health from one who is more advanced than those Ayatollahs.
I have a present from Iran that’s worth more than a billion dollars -but that won’t satisfy YOU and who cares? Search and you will find. Open your mind – but not to unnecessary suspicion.
If you want I’ll get down to real politics in the Gambia section and you should turn up there. I am interested in History, Literature, theatre, poetry, Art, Music, philosophy, psychology, have studied the various trends in Islam and I am not interested in politics, but unfortunately it is the political aspects of Islam that are causing all these explosions – even your reaction. If you want I will do a proper pro-Islamic job on this:
http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=26769
I googled that line " The Web has a video about how the CIA and Bush planned and executed September 11" from Warner's text:
http://www.google.se/search?hl=sv&q=the+CIA+and+Bush+planned+and+executed+September+11&btnG=S%C3%B6k&meta=
and that’s what happens: you don’t react or respond.
The world is burning and all you can say is
“Cornelius claims not to be anti Islamic and yet he can’t avoid a single posting without naming Islam or connecting Islam to his posting. If you are a Muslim, then you’re supposed to be a brother to every other Muslim and be concerned about what’s happening to them.
Obviously you are not used to a Forum where freedom of speech is an aspect of freedom to think and to even express what you think – not as dogma or doctrine.
BASIRU GASSAMA’s arrest for alleged terrorism links should be matter of concern to you. I am not linked to him.
I hope that you conspiracy theory and paranoia evaporates. The OIC, Somalia, Darfur, your president’s Quranic-based powers of healing and this section in which you breathe; WORLD POLITICS is not a Middle East Forum. I do read the Indian, China, Malaysian, Australian, North American and UK and Swedish papers in the course of every week in addition to covering NIGERIA, GHANA, KENYA; UGANDA, SOUTH AFRICA, ZIMBABWE, ISRAEL, Saudi Arabia, Iran , Iraq , Afghanistan and the rest of the Middle East and to some extent Sierra Leone, CONGO and the Gambia.
I also participate in other Fora.
I am only operating at 5%...... but have some breadth and am willing to engage in any non-scientific subjects that may interest you in any of the subjects or topics on Bantaba. In the meantime, I am getting an education here, and thanks for contributing to it.
Here’s something positive that kept me awake some of last night:
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=Gregory+B.+Stone+%22+Dante%27s+Pluralism+and+the+Islamic+Philosophy+of+Religion%22&btnG=Google+Search&meta=
I should also like to add that I love Muslims too much to ever seek to kill any Muslim, be he or she friend or enemy, Shia or Sunni, Qadiani or Ahmadiyya or non-Muslim...... |

Freedom of speech is very important on the internet. BUT we also have to respect each other and each others right to an opinion.
Don't get personal, don't shout each other down and don't DELIBERATELY incite or offend.
That way we can develop mature and interesting debate. |

I prefer to discuss (debating is something else. Would you like to debate with me? About what? Who should talk first?
Are you in the Gambia? http://www.bloggernews.net/14547
If so we’d like some confirmation about Lamin Dibba. There is enough freedom of the “press” here on Bantaba and there seems to be very much freedom of the press in the Gambia which I think should go with a strong belief in the unseen and even the miraculous. So far it looks like a possible case of unlawful dismissal. With the eyes of the whole world on the Gambia (BBC and all, due to the Healer & Leader of the Gambia )these guys must be safer than those recovering from asthma and Aids. So Dr.Jammeh the humanitarian should have compassion on those journalists who in fact have not done him any harm ( Medically speaking)
Dr. Jammeh himself must prefer their freedom to the discomforts he himself may have to face about any report of their disappearance whether miraculous or merely mysterious. One way of arriving at a safe conclusion as to the outcome of any course of action is to think about the alternative not just the “ What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and suffers the loss of his soul” but the sober call to do one's duty to one’s fellow man, also made in the same image of God – and it is God who cures – so why should any president ( of even the medical Association) be bothered if they (the Kuffar) think that Dr.Jammeh cannot cure?
You see how one subject can lead to another? From Obama to Dibba?
“One thing can lead to another; it doesn’t take any sacrifice Oh, father and mother, sister and brother If it feels nice, don’t think twice” (James Taylor “Shower the People”
