lawyer ousainou darboe and his uDP have decided to call it a day despite committing themselves to the memo of understanding.Mr darboe on that faithful when all the five political parties committed themselves to the blue print despite different ideologies, the news was greeted with very high hopes for all yearning for a peaceful democratic change in the Gambia.Putting forward a united front against a sitting incumbent is not an esay task particularly in our part of the world.Sacrifices have to be made and am sure it was that very sacrifices and compromise that eventually gave birth to NADD just and I reiterate Just for sake of The Gambia. It was the prevailance of common sense and sense of the direction that drive all the opposition parties to the formation of NADD, after knowing that none of the parties could do it alone which was sensible and indeed the reality underground. Mr Darboe your widrawal from NADD Has nailed down the hopes and anticipation for better Gambia. The Gambia at this hour needs a formidable united front to unseat the incumbent.Lets us not fool our selves the A.P.R.C Still command a strong force in Gambian politics and i Can say without fear that the party has more money, better party structures in place couple with the state machinery to its advantage.Am quite certain ousainou is fully aware of all this threats and implications but he decided to call it a day simply because the leadership battle is not going his way. Sir leadership is about wishdom, sense of direction and collective teamwork.Am afraid if you cannot negotiate your way through and persuade your collegues in opposition I wonder how you will persuade them at the cabinet table and eventually stamp your authority as president or would it be jammeh style one man cabinet, certainly Darboe that is not what we struggling to change in The Gambia.Mr Darboe am not trying to be sarcastic here but if the push and the pull is all about legacy, putting your name in our good history books the position of president is not the only way to do that.whatever public office you are assigned work extremely hard and deliver the goods if you deliver you will gain the recognition in the wider public and that goes with respect.Sir allow me to draw your attention to the country am living uk its iron chancellor Gordon Browns name will no doubt go in the good books of united kingdom as one of the most successful finance ministers of all time.He is not prime minister but he has worked and delivered as chancellor and he almost enjoy the same amount of publicity and recognition with prime minister Blair. Ousainou it is not all late for a u-turn, political u-turn is not a sign of weakness and it is not suicidal to your political ambitions. It is necessary at times base on the political climate and good sense of reasoning.Return to the negotiating table and fight very hard base on the memo of understanding to get your way if you can convenience your collegues. But if the tide does not blow on your side please dont drag on see Gambia not your presidential ambitions.you Know more than anybody that the threat we are facing, we are up against a dictaor who would maim, murder, and kidnapp all in his desire to stay in power.Mr Darboe you have been a victim of tyrannical rule in our country on countless times so i dont need to draw your attention on the need for alternative government in our country. As i rest my case i whole heartedly appeal to you to return to the negotiating table.

Redeemer, the to question of whether its too late for Darboe to take a U-turn, in my opinio, has only one answer and that is yes, its too late, his credibility is already out of the window, not to mention the credibility of NADD. Darboe has made an error of judgement and should step aside of UDP leadership, that in my opinion is the feasible way out of the current situation. Keep the peace |

We thank Darbo for having the courage to resign from Nadd after consultation with the UDP executive. We applaud you. Some people are not using their brains instead they're hiding behind their computers to preach hatred and tribalism- all directed at Ousainou Darboe. Why did Sam Sarr and Amie Sillah voted for Sallah and not Seedia?WHY? Why did Dullo Bah voted for OJ and not Darboe even though he was told to select Darbo? Why did Juwara voted for OJ? This is nothing but hatred and tribalism.

When you say we, am not sure who is in your group or if you are speaking on behalf of a particular section of our soceity. Phodali, people like you are traggic to our society, scraping in the bins for any possible excuse to say tribalism. Thinking that becasue Sidia is Mandinka that is why he is sidelined is upsurd.

Hay you people, You need to grow up and stop directing unhelpful words at each other. Tribe has no place in the Gambia today.Every Gambian who has the country at heart, should strive hard to look 4 a solution rather than confusing languages. How can any one help the groups to resoulve their differences.I see only the Gambia today and no particular party b-cause,I b-lief None of these parties can single handedly unseat Jammeh. Let no one fool U Jammeh has support. So only collective campaign can unseat him.Do you know He has changed the constitution so that there is no second round?Any party that wins by just one vote, just one becomes the government. Without any doubt if these politicians cannot resolve their differences to come together, then the money supporsed to help finance Nadd should be taken to construct the Sotokoi-Basse road or use to buy medicine for our hospitals if we want to help the Gambian people and not because we want Ousainou,OJ,Halifa,Waa or Hamat individually to lead Nadd.If democracy is to be restured in the Gambia,it has to be done collectively away from tribal line. I am a 'Nko' but have no problem what so ever if any of these becomes leader of Nadd democratically.Infact OJ knows me more than Ousanou or any Nadd executive, except 4 Waa.But I cannot compare anyone to the Gambia, not even my blood brother 4 Gambia to me is more than all put together.I rest my case with good wishes 4 you all.All comments are a sign of our own free will. This is what we want 4 d Gambia and those there to be able to express themselves so freely without intimidation. God bless Gambia Mankajang Janyanfara. |
