I recommend this book ”Dying for my Daughter” by Baba Galleh Jallow http://www.wastelandpress.net/Daughter.html

It is about a fathers battle to protect his daughter from undergoing what he considers harmful tradition.

Serenata, Fuambai's mail was in reaction to some coments raised on gambia-l starting from:(GAMBIA-L archives – November 2006, week 4).

Thanks, Momodou; this book seems to be interesting.

I followed your links and though I some parts in the debates were specially Swedish, I fear that other European countries could seize Sabuni's suggestion to examine girls for FGM. Of course this is not what I want!!! N. Sabuni seems to be a little bit nuts. As one forum member correctly said: "Integration must come through dialogue submerged in mutual respect; not as arrogant rounds of force-feeding immigrants with the cultural diet of the administrators of power in all its corrosive forms".

It is up to African women to abolish or maintain circumcision.

Hi Jambo, I just read your posting. There is no anti-FGM law in The Gambia.
