quote: ANOTHER BRIEF QUESTION. WHEN IBN SAUD THE LATE KING OF SAUDI ARABIA CLASH WITH THE SCHOLARS ABOUT THE ACCEPTABILITY OF ISLAM IN DOING BUSINESS WITH AMERICA ,WHICH QU-ANIC SURAH DID IBN SAUD QUOTE TO LEGITIMISE ALL OIL EXPRORATION WITH AMERICAN BUSINESS'S? THIS IS TRICKY BUT QUITE SIMPLE.THE SURA IS IN THE LAST TEN SURAH,S. unfortunately that imam was sack for speaking his mind.
Santafara I just thought I'd move your question here as it seems to be a new thread. The House of Saud is not as old as many would expect check this link to find out more:http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/saud/cron/

i googled it but couldn't get a specified answer. May be Omega herself can point it out, after the question being open for this long. It is either no one knows the answer or those that know the answer are not following the question.

Remember that USA is a friend and NOT an enemy.

Q: dollars or Euros?
I don’t know where the topic started, but as I understand it Santafara is asking for an authoritative Islamic legal opinion on whether it is halal to do oil business with the United States and I think that the historic background to the question is political. You could consult with diverse Islamic authorities about this. All the Muslim countries, from Libya to Iran seem to be doing it (oil business and gas - – it’s their main source of income and power – political and economic power) so I should think that it is wholly HALAL ( as long as you don’t drink the unrefined oil. I’ve heard many exclamations about America’s unquenchable thirst for oil and if only Jesus could come back again today and perform the ultimate miracle of turning water into oil – instead of non-alcoholic wine, all the Middle East problems would be solved before you could all say "Amen!" But what would the people of the oil-rich lands live on then?
In the meantime may the Almighty save us from the kind of OPEC jacking up of the oil price as happened in 1973-74

Some Muslims know less about the Holy Lands of Islam ( Dar al-Islam) than they know about Dar- al Harb. ( because of duniya)
I’ma feeling cautious about this topic which I think that Iran’s once upon a time Mossadeq coulda handled easily, so ama leaving it to da religious scholars of Islam , to handle as I feel uncomfortable about venturing into areas that I know next to nothing about…. http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&rls=GGLJ%2CGGLJ%3A2006-46%2CGGLJ%3Aen-GB&q=Mossadeq+&btnG=Search&meta=
However some background to the answer could be obtained from this little book which is the only book that I have read about Saudi Arabia in the past ten years: “The Battle for Saudi Arabia” by AS’AD ABUKHALIL. http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&rls=GGLJ%2CGGLJ%3A2006-46%2CGGLJ%3Aen-GB&q=%E2%80%9CThe+Battle+for+Saudi+Arabia%E2%80%9D+by+AS%E2%80%99AD+ABUKHALIL.&btnG=Search&meta=
Apart from numerous (always topical)media articles about business and religious Saudi Arabia it’s good to read the more than occasional book about Saudi Arabia and to know a little bit more about the writers of such books and their agendas: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&rls=GGLJ%2CGGLJ%3A2006-46%2CGGLJ%3Aen-GB&q=AS%E2%80%99AD+ABUKHALIL.&btnG=Search&meta=
In the index under OIL, there are several entries, including. ”apartheid and segregation in industry,” ”and Arab nationalism” “Aramco” “and early agreements with US Companies” “and early American political role” “and King Faysal” “ and oil sector issues” “ and global propagation of Wahabi Islam” “ and Ibn Saud” “ and OPEC” “ and revenues/ wealth” “ and King Saud” “ and Shiites” “ and US- Saudi relations” “ and Yamani”
So many hits on this lil search: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&rls=GGLJ,GGLJ:2006-46,GGLJ:en-GB&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=Middle+East+Business&spell=1

sorry for the delay to give the answer. the answer is suratul al-kafirun. king saud quoted this surah to justify his business dealings with the american's. he said the surah was reveal to allow the muslims to do business and enter into treaties with the unbelievers so long as both parties do not interfare with each others believes. the imam on the other hand was against the agreement. you can read suratul al-kafirun in the noble qu-ruan. |

Individuals can be friends, but how should this be possible for whole nations? Nations can be on 'friendly' or 'unfriendly' terms with each other, but I, as a (political) individual, refuse any politician the right to choose my friends for me. 'Friendship' in political business is nothing but a propaganda claim. Period. |
