actually its quite fun and is deeply rooted in many of the original cultures found in the senegambia. wrestling is not just about putting the opponent down but there are lots of 'rituals', songs and dances and the whole thing is quite an educational experience culturally.
sadly in Senegal, atleast in the Capital it has taken a violent phase, where wrestlers are allowed to hit, punch each other. its not far from boxing. this is new and i find it crazy but they like it.Urban madness. you will never see this in the villages in Senegal.
i hope we maintain the fun way. there were very famous ones from the Gambia/Casamance like Manga, Doubalese etc. they were real entertainers
