All:
See below an inquiry sent from a certain European country's fedearl agency that deals with African asylum seekers. As you can clearly see the subject and content of the inquiry, I wonder if there was going to be a worse time to forward this here. Nonetheless, I figured somehow, responses to these questions may be used to determine someone's future somewhere soon.
To cut this short, I seek honest and frank responses to these questions from anyone who feels OK to do so. You may send your responses to me directly, if you prefer, at any of the following email addresses:
info@freegambia.com bambalaye@freegambia.com ajallow@freegambia.com
Please bear with me while I remove any pertinent information that can link any person directly or indirectly to this inquiry.
Thanks,
-BambaLaye

DOCUMENTATION CENTRE FOR ASYLUM AGENCIES
Dear Sir, Madam
Maybe you could help me with my query
**** is the documentation centre of the ***** agency that is responsible for the processing of applications for asylum. As such ***** collects and assimilates the information about the countries of origin of the asylum seekers which is required by this agency.
I would like to ask whether you could inform me about these issues or provide me the co-ordinates of any organisation who possibly could:
- Do people of Mandingo origin suffer from any form of discrimination or persecution in The Gambia?
- to what extend people of Mandingo origin are associated with the Gambian political opposition?
- Concerning the two above questions, what about high ranked military of Mandingo origin in the Gambian army?
I would be very grateful if you could help me with my query. Your information is most welcome on the address mentioned below.
Yours sincerely,

Yes some people suffer persecution because of their ethnic origin including MANDINGO. This is a complx issue and you really need to have lived in the Gambia to truely understand the extent and nature of persecution. Why do you need to know? |

I want to know if being a mandinka for a poor family will affect his chances of getting a visa to study in uk.
I have witnessed rejudice against him once before. I took him to the bank to open a bank account in his name. The bank staff were very rude to him and more or less told him he had no place in the bank. ( I was sat quietly in the background). Then when I saw he had a problem I stepped up beside him and said he was my guide and a very honest trustworthy man I was helping him open the account. The attitude changed completely...quite sickening really!
I took the name of the person and of his boss and their phone numbers. I said if my friend had any problems he would tell me and I would phone from england to complain! He has been treated like royalty ever since!
Incidently, he has dealt with all the money I have transfered from uk and has followed my instructions 100%. He has been 100% loyal and trustworthy. |

I don't think that has anything to do with him being a Mandingo. Maybe the bank staff need a little bit more training on customer services. With regards to a visa that would be in the hands of the British High Commission and I see no reason why he shouldn't have one supposing he met the high commissioner's demands |
