In one club I sometimes go to my daughters friends have starting going. I decided that was the tme to stop. England is much more ageist than Gambia...what women of a certain age should and shouldnt do. In the Uk I prefer to go to a local pub where there is a mixture of ages, not just young people. But I do miss the dancing. |

| Actually that upset me. Not all people in wheelchairs are old, infact most arent. I have taught children in wheelchairs and they love wizzing round to the music! |

... By the way, in what age should people stop going to clubs?
There's no age really. I had a great time in Spiral last time I was in The Gambia. I don't go to clubs here in the UK beacause I hate the atmosphere - alcohol, drink, drugs, loutish/ladette culture, overtly sexualised behaviour. But I loved Spiral. I felt totally comfortable in the non agressive, non threatening atmosphere.
I also love reggae/dancehall music.
But this has ALWAYS been me.
What I mean is I don't like to see women who are wearing clothes/listening to a certain type of music *only* in a desperate effort to try to fit in with their much younger boyfriends.
As for the jeans Inez - I've never really worn them - I find them hot, uncomfortable, and unyeilding when dancing (not to mention unflattering to my figure - though I take your point about stomach control hehe). I prefer loose fitting casual cotton trousers/long skirts.
Again it is not the wearing of jeans per se so much as seeing someone who you know wouldn't be seen dead in them (actually come to think of it men can be the worst offenders here)at home wearing them because they feel 'out of place' in their usual clothes.

SORRY; I didn't know and did not mean to be offensive. We should not forget that every one of us can end up in a wheelchair - every day. |

Biev, I hope nothing against people in wheelchairs going to disco or concerts. In Sweden one must have a handicap friendly arena for cultural and commercial activitiess.Infact if one govement grants one must provide for them in wheelchairs. All are welcom. I think they have freedom of enjuying extra curicular activities, not just suitting home and be miseriable. Or have I missed your point? |

No, I am all for equal opportunities. I am a special needs teacher. I was objecting to people associating wheelchairs with old age! Sadly many children and young adults are in wheelchairs because of illness or accident and it is our job to treat them equally and make sure they have age appropriate experiences!
Basket ball, dancing, etc etc etc not just put infront of a TV screen! Or worse still a blank wall!
Please remember people in wheel chairs can be intelligent, they can have a sense of humour, they can be lovely or they can be the worst person you have ever met. In other words they are just like you and me. Look beyond their metal seat!
Sorry this is off topic, but it is important to me. |

How do you know they only do it for that? Do you ask them?

Oh, my mind was more in a..s control, since mine have her own life, itīs like two fighting pigs

Serenata, I did laugh a lot at your comment first...before, you know. Old people here has this thing called "rollator", they hold in it when walking and there is small wheels under. I guess thatīs time time.. |

This topic has gone a little strange, what women should wear when they go out, wheelchairs,Old people "rollator". The Police in Iraq have apparantly been telling women that they are not respectfull enough if they have just a little bit of hair showing! Do you want that sort of control?come on now let everyone go dancing and enjoy themselves in whatever they feel comfortable in.(OK some self moderation should be evident. |

Inez, some people love to take offence - for what reason ever. I am sure even handicapped or old people would laugh about my harmless joke (at least it was meant like this). Ok, one day we are the ones to swing our rollators! |
