I have been away for most of the time since the results of the election was announced. The Gambians have "spoken" .Can any lessons be learned from this? It is really hard to remove an incumbency in Africa particularly because the election process is a long and winding road prone to many manipulations by anyone withe the resources.Anyway my congratulations to Jammeh and the APRC and all those staunch and avid supporters of the political status quo. But for those of us who wish for a status quo ante , what can we do during these next five years of "nightmare" in the Gambia ?
Please read this poem , it sums up my state of mind.

WEEP NOT MY COUNTRY!

---------------------
The die is cast upon thine own misery
Our bid is lost
Go play me the banjo if you 'd
"God does not play dice", Einstein told us

Weep not my country !
So i can criticize another term , a life term maybe
Your rule , mis-rule
So "uneasy lies the head that wears the crown",Achebe told us

Weep not my country!
Our cause's divided so is the process flawed , dictated , scumbag
All the more i need a term limit
This incumbency fouls my senses
Wherein lies my pulpit
So I rage your welling tears

Weep not my country !
Your swarm homage onto thee by thine own fortress
That stood the pillage of colonialists

Weep not my country!
Weep not my country!
All the while I need a term limit
That when the thing fell of from the sky
For all the nation to see
All the why I need a term limit

Weep not my country!
Weep not my country!
'Tis not the end of all things ask a resurrectionist
And take the word around the nation and the National Assembly
Why I need a term limit
This military-clad incumbency fouls my deep senses

Weep not my country!
Weep not...!
Weep not my country!
This road but less travelled , by Frost
Goes on forever...
All the why I need a term limit.

Jammeh has already been there. The gates of of every public yard has the words "WALLAHU YASHMUKA MINA NASH

So you see, the man is sage when it comes influencing our psyche.

Thanks

Are you and Gambia Echo one and the same? Just look at the buttom of this page culled from Gainako:

The poem below authored by KayJatta is rated a poem of reality. In it, KayJatta cried foul, and expressed his
frustration over a regime that doesn't have a term limit."Weep not my country." the heading, and used numerous
times in the stanzas sound like a comforting language, wherein hope is predicted. The poem is curled from
Bantaba.

Totally different.

Gainako deals with milk (cow & calf), motto, guardianship & independence.
