Really Jambo your topics are hot and every little helps. Cost of living in Gambia is high and as schools are opening some families cannot foot the bills and eventually a child may end up school drop out. Schools fees, uniforms, staionery and books for a child initial budget before classes starts, may add up:

Scool Fees D1,050
Cost of uniforms 1,000 (10 metres x D60 = D600 + Tailor D400)
Books and stationery1,000(7 Text bks x D75 = D525 + Sta. D475)
Shoes & Scool Bag 450

TOTAL D4,500

Average good monthly salary for Gambian civil servants (i.e Teachers, Police, Army, Middle-level Managers, Hospitals etc) is between D1,500 to D2,500.

EVERY LITTLE HELPS!

Janky, take a look at www.getsuk.org - then go to sponsorship. You can view the sponsorship form including the fees & the basic details of the Gambian children/students with photos. This might be of help putting your Unison letter together, plus you can print off the sponsorship form.
Regards, sab.
