Why you want fi bleach up your skin?
Why you want fi bleach up your skin? I said, Why you want fi bleach up your skin? Why you want fi bleach up your skin? Cause you look completely disguistin!
Why you want fi destroy your melanin? I said, why you want fi destroy your melanin? Why you want fi destroy your melanin? Cause beauty comes from deep within. Why do you want to take the black out of your face? Are you ashamed of your African race?
You’re declaring to the world That you hate yourself And your only salvation Is to have light skin.
You’re teaching your children To feel inferior of their dark skin This is an outrage You’re having identity crisis Maybe it’s time for you to look within To realize you’ve been blessed with melanin To strengthen your natural immunity And protect you’re skin from the sun’s rays.
Where is your dignity? For you belong to noble people of antiquity The African race.
Why you want fi bleach up your skin? Why you want fi bleach up your skin? Why you want fi bleach up your skin? Cause you look completely disguistin!
Your hands expose a great lie Your dark skin won’t fade away When the price of vanity Becomes too high Here comes judgment day!
I wonder- Why do you hate your skin colour ? Do you really want skin cancer? Do you really want to suffer? Do you really want to die An agonizing mercury poisoning death ?
Why you want fi destroy your melanin? I said, why you want fi destroy your melanin? Why you want fi destroy your melanin? Cause beauty comes from deep within.
Stop skin- bleaching now! Without melanin you can’t prosper Stop skin- bleaching now! Without melanin your contract skin cancer.
Remember black is beautiful The blacker the berry The sweeter the juice And every hue of African skin colour is so beautiful.
So, why you want fi bleach up your skin?

Comment. Skin bleaching is a real problem within African Communities world-wide and it is a consequence of mental slavery. We as people should be proud of the pigmentation of our skin no matter its hue- black is beautiful.

Thank you sister, that is a good one. Infact we need to talk more about this topic inorder to sensitise the massive about the important of their colour and the dangers of bleaching their skin.
Some times I Ithought those who do this does not know the consequence of the act. PEACE! |

I agree with sankahjang. And I was surprised to see there are men also who bleach their skin! And why does some who are born with lighter skin think they are better than other Africans? I have seen that also, some who really diss their darker skinned brothers or sisters only because of their skin colour. I felt sick and wonder what´s up with that? |

This world is F***ed up! We have blacks bleaching their skin as they think paler is better and at the same time we have toubabs spending a fortune to darken their skin with solaria or semi-permanent skinpaint as they think a darker skin is the embodyment of beauty.. Both methods cause skincancer and in the end what it comes to is that we are starting look like eachother.... Your skin is your skin, it was given to you by your creator. He did not make a mistake when he gave you your skin colour no matter what tone it is. |

About 10 years ago cosmetic surgery was just in usa.....we thought they were sick...now it is becoming 'normal'in uk too...
It is a shame people cant learn that beauty comes from within and our body is just the shell that carries 'our soul'(or whatever concept you have) around.
It is nice to make the best of ourselves.....but where do we draw the line???? It is getting more and more extreme and to me that is a sign of some deepseated insecurities and unhappiness. It applies to white people just as much as blacks. It just manifests itself in different ways (BOOB JOBS!! FOR EXAMPLE)
PS I am very surprised to see an intelligent person using the term toubab...... its offensive. Please just say white person. I'm sure you dont like the black equivalent. |

I suppose you are right about that. Even I spend a fortune on tanning salons. But I am not striving to be deep brown though, just adding a little colour enough to feel fresh now in the cold, sunless winter. We scandinavians love the sun because we don´t get enough of it over here, the summers are way too short and rainy. The sun provides vitamin D and we are lacking of it in the long winters, if we don´t eat enough vitamins. Maybe that is one explanation why we are striving for the sun (even if it´s artificial). Could it be biological? Don´t know. Anyhow, I do feel alot better and healthier if I´m not pale. |

Gambiabev, We have different names for trees, like pinetree or baobab, because the outside appearence of these trees differ but they are still all trees. The term toubab is a non-judgemental name that Gambians call white people. No more, no less. Just as black people call themselves moorfijo. The term becomes positively or negatively loaded when it is seen from a personal reference or viewpoint that marks one or the other as bad or good when compaired. And as I stated before, in my opinion, it is of no use to compaire people based on their outside features as we are all people with the same emotions. And yes, we look different, that is a fact. A fact that should not be judged but also should not be ingnored as that would seem like we are not proud of who we are, black, white, pink, grey, red, yellow or purple (for the aliens among us) The only strange thing is, in reference to the topic, I have never seen a pine tree trying to be a baoab or vice versa...

Babylon, does the semi-permanent skinpaint toubabs put on their body also provide vitamin D or the artificial warmth of the sun? NO. It is about becoming darker skinned. |

The warmth of the sun is a good thing to a point...vitamin d and wrarmth in the bones makes us feel physically well amd sunlight keeps us mentally well. BUT the well publicised danger is skin cancer. People ignore that at their peril. |

Yes, most toubaabs look better with a tan in my opinion. And now you made me think of that maybe black people who bleach their skin really just do it for their own sake and not because of wanting to look more Western. Because I certainly don´t go to the tanning salon just because I want to look more like an African, if you want to compare it like that. I think I look a little cuter and feel a lot better with a small tan. Yet I love myself and I am proud of myself already, and don´t need to strive to look like another ethnicity. I am just me and can´t change it or where I´m coming from, I can never look like an African. So maybe changing the colour of your skin does not have to mean that you hate yourself afterall..? |

My daughter has ginger hair and bottle white skin with freckles.....to me that is beautiful becuase it is how she was made.....if she tried to tan she could end up with skin cancer. |

The idea of beauty is a fashion that has changed over time and cultures. It has many many influences, some deep seated and some superficial. In England having a tan is associated with being healthy at the moment. In previous generations it was consider vulgar and unladylike and women guarded against it!It is probably infact the opposite of healthy! |

We white people have different skin types, some are very sensitive to sun (redheads in particular) and some skin types that can handle the sun well. It is never good to exaggerate anything and especially not being in the sun too much, there are women in their 50´s who look like 70 year old dried up raisins because of too much sun. Certainly that is something one should try to avoid. That doesn´t mean we have to stay out from the sun completely, it is also healthy to be in the sun(just not too much). |
