Ous., nice blog, visited it many times. Just yeterday, i was sharing thoughts with Sabally.

Maple, Your arguements are genuine. The political platform, i think, will definately support a woman president. All we do is opt for it.

Well, if every man wants to be more manly than the pants we are wearing, then -it comes to an equilibrum point, where all of them cannot pass. Then we will make history by selecting a woman president. You might be right about the notion of a woman president, and Liberia did it, more war ravaged, so we can do it.

All i know, the ya-compins will be more proud of a female president.

Nadd members might not be reading you, but be rest assured that people who talk to Nadd,STGDP officials, one in one are reading your points- a lot of them, including the last postman, Bambalaye-that's for a fact,a lot more than i know. By making your points here you are talking to Nadd indirectly. So keep making them.

Let me know Maple, who your choice of candidature is, if you wouldn't mind ?

Regards,
Dalton

Am glad that our ideas are indirectly of benefit to NADD throught STGDP. Unfornately for us in U.K.we lack such a movement to the calibre of STGDP, some migth argue we have a body here but there work or influence within the Gambian community here is so minimal you hardly notice it. To the point of who my chosen leader or flag bearer should is open and based on who best suits the category. I would not love to see Halifa, Darboe, Bah, Sidia and Juwara as flag bearer of NADD. These are individuals we need our the potical life of The Gambia till their last breath and seeing them cutting that short after five years will make me sad. These are influencial political figures in out country and we really need them for amny more years to come. Going by the MOU of NADD any individual among taking up the leadership of NADD is potically dead after 5years. am not at this point endorsing O.J. as the flagbearer but my desired canditate should be one whose departure from the potical field in 5years will not leave a gap too difficult to fill. NADD should broaden its search for leader and perhaps give chance to individuals who might not be part of the committee running NADD. Let them take an open view in leadership selection not a narrow view. We have many capable Gambians whom I belief can make positive changes in our contry's history within 5years.
For a woman flagbearer am not against but lets be factual about the odds too. Liberia might have one, can the gambian people have one? We all know the decision takers in our country. Some fathers will influence the vote of their sons, duaghters and wives and we all know Gambian elders are old fashion.

Maple, thanks for that healthy rejoinder.

Many people seem to misunderstand something, that whoever happen to lead and defeat jammeh will still be with us, just cannot affiliate directly to favour of politicals parties contesting then.He or she can write us novels and keep being a mentor after words, and it doesn't mean he or she will die for ever. Like Mandella is now, still a crowned prince. Ex-president Clinton is still an American hero. I will definately support any of them, who can sacrifice the uncertainty for the present dark situation.Trust me, the Gambia give give birth to a lot of Halifas, Darboes, OJs etc... We are not stagnant.

Trust me, after a jammeh era, Gambians can move forward with their destiny, and settle their little differences. Getting the dictator out is the headache here.

Later,
Dalton
