I am travelling to Gambia with my girlfriend Jan2007. Can somebody give us hints what is best way to see Gambian cultur from as inside as it is possible for tourist to see it?
I have red about Gambia and I find it interesting culturwise so it would be nice to spend cultural holliday not just beachtrip.
You need to get a guide. I can recommend some if you like. I would recommend a trip to Tendaba. Also I would suggest going to Brufut to the beach bar, and the guest house known as Eden house, which is lovely.
If you havent got a hotel booked I would recommend Palm Beach at Kotu.
If you want to email me my address is leicesterbev@hotmail.com PS The museum at Tanji is very good too. It shows you alot about the traditions.
definately get with the local guides, my first trip i booked one and he showed me so much more of the local life. also after one or two trips you can make your own arrangements.
Also by using these guides you are insured if anything happens, if you pick up someone local and something happens forget it, he will be long gone.
Also being with a local guide got me to the front of the line when it came to going to the ferries. now that is a trip and a half. i can recommend one or two.
