Hi Guys I am in the process of registering the charity and I have a finance committee meeting on Thursday so I am now trying to put a business plan together. I have a company who is hopefully donating some books and pens and also I am sending out a letter that I have composed to different companies. I am getting very excited but also frustrated at the same time as I am not the most patient person in the world.
Gambiabev, Where I work we actually support your school in IT.

Hi Guys Update - I have just recd my first donation £500.00, promises of books and pens and the letter is also going on distributions email, Ipoint newsletter and The Pointer newsletter so things are up and running. I have a appointment with the bank manager on Saturday morning to open the account. I have some people interested in sponsoring so I hope that this is the start of many good things to come. |

Jambo, I am planning to go to Gambia after christmas probably. I would go tomorrow if I could. I received some more pledges and donations today so I hope everything goes to plan. It actually goes out to print on friday for local government employees and then newsletters starting in beginning of October. I just hope and pray that I can pull this off |

Tell me more Jambo........or e mail - as you know I am not around much at the moment - staying at my daughters home & she has child lock on the PC, so I have to wait & skim the news.
After four operations she has septicimia & has been kept on life support machine & dialysis for the past ten days. The last 48hrs has seen some progress & if it continues the doctors will allow her to wake up middle of next week.
Oh how we take things for granted! Have a peaceful weekend, sab.

| Sab, sorry to hear of your daughters illness. Lets hope she has turned the corner and will continue to improve. Illness impacts on the whole family. You need to take good care of yourself. I know it isnt easy, but try to eat and sleep well. Then you can be strong for your daughter when she makes it home. |

Hi Guys, A long time since I posted on here but been so busy it's unbelievable. The charity is now registered in the UK and I have also recd loads of books, pens, pencils and different educational equipment. The plan is to set up the nursery in Kiang and then move on to another school. We have secured the funding of 2 teachers for the next five years and also the donations have been coming in to sponsor children and also just to help set up the school. It is growing slowly but I am now trying to get some free shipping ..................anyone got any idea's? |

| It was quite straight forward really. I have the help of 3 friends that I met in Gambia 5 yrs ago. Also I have the backing of Unison and the international officer is also our trustee. One of my friends who is a trustee is also a accountant so she looks after the financial side of things.I just need new ideas on fund raising and want to make sure that when we start to look after the school we do it long term.I dont want to start and not be able to finish, if you know what I mean. Idont want to let myself or anyone else down especially the kids. I work in education and a few of our schools donated the money that was raised during xmas concerts etc so that is really nice. |
