HEAVY RAIN TRIGGERS TRAFFIC MAYHEM
By Musa Barrow & Bubacarr K. Sowe

Residents as well as commuters were on Saturday, 12th August 2006 bewildered by the heavy down pour which flooded Kombo Sillah Drive and Papa Sarr Street in Churchill's Town.

The down pour affected the movement of people and vehicles in the area. Some of the passers-by were seen wading through the surging water which rose up to almost knee level. Naked children were also seen playing inside the water-logged streets.
Furthermore, the water level on the Serrekunda-Mandinaba Highway rose so high that it slowed down the movement of the vehicles. Drivers were seen struggling to cope with water levels which engulfed their wheels. Shopkeepers and restaurant owners were also sighted battled with the flood. Our reporter also saw a CSC contractor trying to unblock the gutter which was apparently blocked by mid.
