kondorong i am not saying that foreign music should not be played or banned but like all societies it is important to promote what you have. if the DJs dont then the gov should atleast put a minimum percentage of airtime to be dedicated to gambian music. Gambian music is music from gambian artists.

secondly there is nothing worng with saying music incompartable with out society like violent music or racist music should not be played. it is not censorship but regulation.
i know many young gambian artist who find it hard to break through.

just like in Universities, certain number of seat are maintained for home students.

i dont think Jazz is from Jahass Bahazz. that was just ......

Well that is what Amigo Jeng is making us believe.

Any way, radio statons pay taxes to the state. It is unfair to regulate how much airtime they should give to Gambian Music.
The kind of music is based on what their audience wants. It will be unfair to regulate that. It will be a dictatorship to do so. If the Government wants that, they can do so on GRTS TV and Radio whwere our tax money goes.

Private entities are purely commercial. Infact who are the audience other than the Gambian people. Unfortunately we ave taste for foreign music. Through out our independenec, except in 1965, every independence day is graced by foreign musicians.

One of the last episodes was between Mass Lowe (Gambian) musician and Youssou Ndourr. When Yossou played, the whole cabinet left the stadium. Even the president left. That was in the headlines. Mass lOwe protested why the cabinet left and did not listen to local bands.
Well that is the government for youUnfortunately, the regulators even like foreign music.

May be when you become president you will stay.
