Vote, Vote, Vote for Halifa Sallah and NADD - Abdoulie Jallow (BambaLaye) –July 30, 2006

I am a pro-democracy peace and justice loving NADD enthusiast who's going to make it clear to the world there can be no better leader to spearhead the massive socio-political re-engineering needed to set The Gambia in the right direction but for the intelligent, charismatic peace loving Hon. Halifa Sallah.

Come September, I plan on persuading and indulging every voter-aged Gambian I know to cast their ballot for Hon. Sallah. How, pray tell, does an unrefined new age penman, NADD fanatic democracy loving self designated proxy campaigner in favor of a preferential option for the poor, come to such a pass? Through a bout of moral indignation, that's how. My multiple disillusionments with Yaya Jammeh and those aiding and abetting his feat for becoming the most notorious dictator in the sub-region, intentionally or otherwise, have boiled over.

When Yaya Jammeh presided over the cold blooded massacre of more than a dozen innocent student activists, something in me snapped. "That's it," I said, "I've had it. There's no way this hand's going to hold a ballot or strike a key to help elect this fellow, never in my life time. That occasion reinforced my conviction in the brutality and callousness in Jammeh and his regime. Yet we still witness bloody handed penmen writing to Yaya’s musings over the various and blatant mismanagement of the economy and what has now become the daily destruction of decent human life. Cynical? Opportunistic? Or another sincere but tone-deaf judgment call? Does it take a whole village to save these spin doctors from themselves?

I am also affronted by Ousainou Darboe’s and Hamat Bah’s cavalier rejection, at the helm of hope, of the will and intent of the people - those supporting the opposition - in unification of the opposition in NADD. I am still grappling with Ousainou’s excuse of the existence of mistrust where it would have been difficult to ascertain given his consent to conspire and Hamat’s story of baked and unbaked cakes in congruence with mistakes made by the UDP and NRP. Tells more of their leadership qualities than what could have gone wrong in NADD.

In Ousainou and Hamat’s current efforts to pander to the prevailing winds and out-tough the macho-Yaya, it is blatantly apparent they cannot reverse the course of NADD. Nor are they likely to become any less vulnerable to economic mismanagement given their lack of a concrete or clearly laid out strategy to resolve the country’s socio-economic and public management woes. Hamat’s notoriety in the phenomenon of “futoy-mu-tack” wouldn’t help their cause either. In their eye-on the-main-chance mode of operation whatever seems to fly will be adopted. Whatever groups (or old friends) or principles that have to be abandoned along the way will be sacrificed with dispatch.

Enough already. In a desperate act of protest and total confidence in the possibility for a better Gambia, I'm ready to persuade and indulge every voter-aged Gambian I know to cast their ballot for Hon. Sallah and NADD. Contrary to superstitious belief, my hand or my pen will not fall off. With Hon Sallah at least I can get one important piece of my consistent ethic-of-life agenda championed; the innocent, the suffering, the downtrodden may have a bit more chance for some protection.

Finally I suppose when facing the choice between Yaya, Ousianou and Halifa there's no avoiding the age-cum-experience question. On balance I admire Halifa's generational approach to the cultural forces that shaped his era more than I like the confusion and self-indulgence that produced the so-called “futoy-mu-tack” reconciliationists. Obviously to possess Halifa’s particular formative experiences you have to have been exposed to the socio-economic anomalies of the people at their level for as long as Halifa has. Social work has been Halifa’s life by any measure. I hope Gambian voters will be aware of the damage done by Yaya and not judge the candidates by the amount of money dished out to them in their most dire conditions.

Well, who knows how this particular life-of-a-nation-determinant exercise in choice is going to play itself out? Comedy, tragedy, farce? Right now it's taking enough energy for me to cast a heretofore thinkable NADD vote in September; I'm no longer going to be held captive by the renegades of the “futoy-mu-tack” phenomena occupying the frontals of APRC and UDP/NRP.

It is unfortunate that i cannot vote in the coming elections cause am away from home. One thing i can do is to tell all friends and relatives to vote for NADD, the party of the 21st century. Fellow gambians please dont misuse the opportunity of laying the foundation for democracy and economic freedom.

Bravo Bambalaye.. Since it looks like the opportunist and hopeless has killed the final seeds of possible opposition unity, it is time to fall back on our individual party merits and fight on forever. There is no question the NADD formula and leadership is far politically and economically superior to any other candidate or party in the Gambia. The fight is not going to end with this elections contrary to what would be of the part time politicians who will safely retire from politics and succumb to pressure in fear of going to jail. Trust me, the monster will come after them big time....

Regardless of what happens, Gambia and its people will live on. It is therefore significant that since our short term goals of changing the government looks so bleaked, we need to continue on our option B.. that is the long term strategy of educating our populace particularly the youths for control of their own destiny. Halifa and the NADD's agenda must live on and continue to change one mind after another. As the saying goes - a journey with thousand miles begin with a step. We are far into the journey and we must continue this journey for not our own benefits, but for generations to come. We may not get there together, but one day we will. Gambia is destine to get there.

I just wish for a minute, there would be an apportunity for Jammeh, Darboe/Bah, and Sallah to put their agendas side by side. I wish they will make a mistake and allow a Nation wide debate between these candidates. Then and only then, can we separate between viable seeds and a bunch of infected seeds that when planted can only produce genetically infected seedlings.

As Bambalaye said, it is time to make a difference in promoting the NADD agenda. There are so many ways we can promote NADD's good will intentions. We can contribute our dollars knowing well that even if they don't win the money will be put into good use by educating the public. We can convince our relatives to vote NADD and history will permanently put them in the books of democratic values and principles. So the fight is just begining and we must continue. Come september 22, and after, those selfish ones will abandon our people and their children. They will start to high in fear of their safety. They will be implicated in drug dealings, and other petty crimes because they don't have the integrity and dignity that is worth respecting. History shall be the judge between those who truely love Gambia and those that find themselves in politics by historic accidents. God bless.
The fight continues.
Long live NADD

Demba,
That's the prescription for the ongoing cankerworm. The struggle continues. You said it with no error, a thousand mile journey starts with one step. Enjoy the new Gambia when it is born. Great piece Abdoulie Jallow.

Thanks fellow Contributors we should all support Halifa and nadd and at the same time work towards a united Opposition. Without a united opposition our chances are very minimal.

Hey, when is the Gainako site coming into full swing? If it is already running please give us the info. We need to spread the message in as many ways as we can. Information shared is useful information and that not shared is wasteful. Keep it up..
See you in the new Gambia. It is a matter of time and yes I mean time...
Peace

Kaw-Demba,

You know the vultures fly to the skies to see their preys. My loved ones are sitting on the propeller of the Gainako ship. When the first headline was written, over five vultures called my elder brother. If i had a choice not to listen to my family and friends, then Gainako would have been number one in news reliance and dependability. To be brave and endanger your innocent loved ones-to me, this is worth calculation. When the word is "wait", then we implore from all that expected fast operations to bear patience with us, since it is a long term goal. And we very well apologise to all that see the move otherwise. From code red, then yellow, and once the light turns green-booom we go ! Thanks for your good heart, and God fit you in our next leaders to bring sanity in the Gambia, because you demonstrated responsibility and care.

Dalton

So when do we expect the green light. Is it after Junkung leaves office? Thats my guess because i cannot see any respite for now.

Are you also therefore asking others to fight your battle for you since you cannot do it?

I don't know what ur criteria is for moving some of these inter-linked topics ? I would have prefer that it stayed where it was posted if admin power doesn't supercede a contributor's request.

Hi Dalton,
I was splitting the topic when at the same time Kontorong posted a reply to you.
As administrator, I do split topics into new threads when I see that an original posting is getting into another off-topic discussion. Dbaldeh's enquiry and your reply about Gainako site is one of such topics I sometimes split into new threads.

ATCHU NAM HACKEH!:-) I am sorry for any inconvenience.

It took over my jola fluency. I speak it a lot here. As you make your bed, so you must lie on it. You know they neither speak wollof nor pularr, so we jointly speak it.
