Jack,
Don't worry yourself too much. The scots vote is not legally binding and can only mean something only if westminster validates a 'yes' vote if indeed there is one. You know that is not gonna happen. The scots are voting 'No' anyway. So no fuss is required.
The 2014 Scots Vote is designed to shut-up Alex Sammond and his SNP party for good.
Thanks

Editorial IS THE GAMBIA GOVERNMENT AWARE? SUSPENSION OF POITICAL DIALOGUE Published on Wednesday, 17 April 2013 09:20 | Written by Ousman Njie We have heard President Jammeh saying that diplomacy is tit for tat. Allow us to add that that is cold war diplomacy. This era is one when it is very difficult to conduct diplomacy that serves the national interest unless one builds the integrity of a political system. Suffice it to say that once a government is truly protecting the fundamental rights and freedoms of her citizens it becomes impossible to isolate it in the world. The Government of the Gambia has a National Security Service. It can gather intelligence on Public opinion. What is stopping it from enquiring how the public sees the disappearance of Imam Baba Leigh or the closure of Taranga FM. Foroyaa has conducted voice pop to gather public opinion? All the opinions, irrespective of religious belief, are opposed to the disappearance. As for Taranga FM, all those interviewed irrespective of what side of the political divide they belong to have expressed support for removing the ban on Taranga FM. Governments build integrity by showing that they listen to public opinion and are open to be influenced by progressive public opinion. A Government that takes criticism and public opinion as dictation and respond to them with defiance must eventually head towards impunity. Such governments become vulnerable in the current world order when Governments must at least pay lip service to respect for human rights or be isolated. Our reading of the EU is that it takes time before matters move from one level to the other, thus making it impossible to see immediate effect of certain developments like the suspension of political dialogue. Some big organisations operate like trains. Once they head somewhere they know no turning back. The Gambian economy is in a critical situation. The balance of payment developments in the last half of 2012 registered a deficit of 38 Million dollars or 1.3billion dalasi. The country needs the IMF and World Bank more than ever before. It goes without saying that the many sources of foreign exchange have given support to the value of the dalasi. If such sources dry up the value of the dalasi could depreciate thus sending inflation up to the sky. There is need for the government to take serious steps in investigating the disappearance of Imam Baba Leigh and ensure, as the protector of the security of the citizenry, that he reunites with his family. There is need to ensure that Taranga FM is back on air and Daily News and The Standard newspapers are back on the newsstands. The election results are clear proof that there are dissenting opinions and voices in the country. Hence the Government cannot claim to be acting on everyone’s behalf. There is need for political dialogue locally and internationally to put the Gambian social and political system on a footing of tolerance.

I advise the UK to give it a try and leave the european project. But realise the major economic partner will still be the EU. Moreover the Uk will lose Scotland next year, and within a few years Wales... :) England will result in a small country with a big mouth... lol. Sometimes i must agree with the french. LOL
Anyway : everyone is talking about the costs of the EU administration. Realise its only 6 % of the total budget. Are their wages too high : surely. But thats not the problem.
The real problem is that national politicians blame the EU for all things that are going wrong in their own country and the few thing are going well are coming from their own policy.... hmmm. As long as their is no european attitude the EU will be difficult.
As long as politicians dont inform their nationals objectively there will be a great suspicion on that project.
But i thought this was a Gambian forum :)

1. GAMBIAN PARLIAMENTARIANS SUBMIT PETITION ON EU 17 POINTS
SOURCE: FOROYAA BURNING ISSUES NEWS: PUBLISHED ON MONDAY 2 APRIL, 2013
Written by: Amie Sanneh
"According to Article 17 of the Cotonou Accord a Joint Parliamentary Assembly comprising members of the European Parliament and members of Parliament of ACP countries is established. According to the National Assembly members, the Joint Parliamentary Assembly held its 31 Session in Brussels from the 18 to the 22 March 2013.
In submitting the report of the Gambian parliamentary delegation before the national assembly the Member for Tumana Hon. Netty Baldeh, who was also the head of the delegation, said the motion and petition against the EU points presented at the National Assembly were together forwardedby the clerk of the Assembly to the office of The Gambian Ambassador to Belgium and the EU. The report he went on was also forwarded to the Hon. Secretary General of the ACP Secretariat and the Co-Presidents of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly with a view to solicit leave for the Gambian delegation to table the motion and petition at the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly. According to him both the motion and the Gambian people’s petition were duly acknowledged without objection. Hon. Baldeh stated that both were subject of discussion at the caucus of ACP Ambassador, Bureau of ACP Parliamentary Assembly, Joint Bureau of ACP-EU Parliamentary Assembly and plenary of the Joint Committee on Political Affairs of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly. The two reports he added are also agenda items of the next Plenary Session of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly slated for June 2013 in Luxembourg.
Seconding the motion, the Member for Banjul North Alagi Sillah said the Gambian people wanted their complaint to be laid before the EU Parliament to look at the way forward. This he went on is about the integrity of the country which was at stake. He said they further discussed amongst other things with EU officials the Issuance of Visas to EU countries. He said it’s very difficult for one to get visa even if it is official and if they give you a visa, it will be limited to the exact time of the meeting one is attending. According to him the EU promised to look into all the concerns raised and work on them accordingly.
For his part, the member for Serrekunda East, Fabakary Tombong Jatta said the EU has done a lot of support to the country but despite all that the sovereignty and dignity of the country is at stake. He said they are not opposed to the principle dialogue as to the Cotonou dialogue but the problem is the manner it was carried out. This he said is the reason why the National Assembly sees it necessary to present the petition and motion so that they can reassess it. He said if they activate the dialogue, all process must uphold the dignity and sovereignty of the Gambian people.
Nominated Member Seedy Njie expressed hope that this time around they will listen to the will of the Gambian People. He said the Gambia prefers to live in poverty and dignity than to be enslaved. He called on the EU to have respect and dignity for the Gambia and its people.
Niamina East Foday A. Jallow said the Gambia is a sovereign state and has the right to work in accordance with its laws.
Editor’s Note For the benefit of the reader, Article 17 of the ACP-EC Agreement states: “The Joint Parliamentary Assembly
1. The Joint Parliamentary Assembly shall be composed of equal numbers of EU and ACP representatives. The members of the Joint Parliamentary Assembly shall be, on the one hand, members of the European Parliament and, on the other, members of parliament or, failing this, representatives designated by the parliament of each ACP State. In the absence of a parliament, the attendance of a representative from the ACP State concerned shall be subject to the prior approval of the Joint Parliamentary Assembly.
2. The role of the Joint Parliamentary Assembly, as a consultative body, shall be to: - promote democratic processes through dialogue and consultation; - facilitate greater understanding between the peoples of the European Union and those of the ACP States and raise public awareness of development issues; - discuss issues pertaining to development and the ACP-EU Partnership; - adopt resolutions and make recommendations to the Council of Ministers with a view to achieving the objectives of this Agreement.
3. The Joint Parliamentary Assembly shall meet twice a year in plenary session, alternately in the European Union and in an ACP State. With a view to strengthening regional integration and fostering cooperation between national parliaments, meetings between EU and ACP members of parliament may be arranged at regional or sub-regional level. The Joint Parliamentary Assembly shall organise regular contacts with representatives of the ACP EU economic and social partners and the other actors of civil society in order to obtain their views on the attainment of the objectives of this Agreement.
4. The Joint Parliamentary Assembly shall adopt its rules of procedure within six months of the entry into force of this Agreement.”"
