My naked eyes watch a scene
So obscene that I cringe
Name calling abound ;
Hanging by a thread is a bead
So small that it seems to disappear from site
Yet it's beauty makes it a must to seek a peek
Sparkling colours of a rainbow's hues
Ah ! a gem of rare qualities
Does indeed hold it's place in alluring grace

My busy mouth kept munching
The grilled nuts
In fulfillment of a need to feed
Masticating with salt induced salivation
I champed on the nuts of Grandma Penda
They ain't sweet but taste nice in the mouth
Delicacies that tease the palate
Subtly reminding of a later feast
Of a sumptuous meal served by Auntie Fatou
Famous for The super domodaa full of beefy bits
And soft bones to suck on
Down yonder in Little Gambia

They laugh at her due to her stature
But she holds her head in a model's pose
Refusing to be cowed into hiding or shame
That size which makes them taunt
Was her's and keep she did in a wondrous grace
This gem might appear fragile to the untrained eye but is

Beheld in esteem by the connoiseur of elegance
Little Gambia holds onto her place in state
Refusing to be nudged off the stage

In pride we her children too refuse
To be set down or trodden upon by none
Just a fluke can we say that we do now
To suffer a dastardly disgrace of state
To be tricked into belief that we were being saved
Just to get tyranny holding sway
Aye indeed this is current standing
But that facade is crumbling down
As having been built on foundations not so strong
To give way to the peoples will
One day we shall stand on that podium
With other nations in pride
Looking back at what we achieved for ourselves
Against all the odds
Even after being abandoned by the comity of nations
To our fate and all
We shall define the word freedom
On our terms
Cherishing and guarding it with jealous fervor
For our children and posterity
Blocking that evil door through which
The evil serpent crawled to lead us astray
Until that day we accept the name
Little Gambia with grace and in pain.

Thanks Dalton and brother Kobo. This is my own way of fighting the absurd tyranny we all suffer yes we all including those who reasons of their own pretend that all is okay as things stand. Thanks.
