Mile Two Conditions

http://observer.gm/africa/gambia/article/scattred-janneh-lacks-the-moral-right-to-cast-venom-on-govt

quote:
[The nominated NAM further rubbished Janneh’s comments on the prison conditions in The Gambia. “Everybody is a living testimony that there is a clinic at the Mile Two Central Prison and that all inmates are accorded the opportunity and escort to health facilities, particularly the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital should they complain of any health problems that need attention.”

“It is to be noted with pride that President Jammeh builds and continue to build and strengthen democratic and good governance institutions, such as his government’s issuing of licence to over 20 private and community radio stations all over the country and the proliferation of numerous private newspapers. These have been provided thanks to President Jammeh’s ardent desire and belief in the independence of the press, responsible journalism and the freedom of the press.”]

Without a doubt, we still have some of these NAMS in their own world. I think Dr. Janneh gave an accurate naration of the prison conditions in Mile Two. Former NAM, Demba Dem relayed something similar if not worse to what Dr. Janneh narated. The numerous deaths there, the latest, 3 inmates died within a week is as a result of poor prison conditions and inhumane torture. For a person in the capacity of a NAM to come out this way, shows the low level to which some of these representatives can get. What a shame! I just believe if people cannot be honest with the little things, they will not be honest with the big things. Most of those that work with Jammeh think that by being bleeting goats making the louder noise, they can be spared from Jammeh's electric sweeping broom. FYI, Mile two is jammeh's final destination. We will hopefully get a chance to hear him wine and cry about these prison conditions one day.

Best,

Yero
