In Loving Memory: Eggeh Sowe
It is with a heavy heart I relay on behalf of my entire family the death of my maternal grandmother, Mama Eggeh Sowe of Sintet FulaKunda. Mama Eggeh as we fondly called her was the one that saw us through in life, through the many triumphs and huddles. Even though I personally lost my mother since January 31st 1997, Mama was the one we called a mother. She was there to give us the much needed motherly support, love, prayers and blessings. I last spoke with her just yesterday (Sunday November 20th 2011) and when I did I still recalled her strong voice re-assuring me all was well.
Now that she passed away, I thank God Almighty for having made such a woman my grandmother and making her to live and provide us with support for all these years. I pray to Allah (SWT) in whose Hands all things are, to kindly accept her soul to Jannah. I equally ask of you all to send her and all those parents of ours that passed away your prayers
On behalf of the entire family,
Yero Jallow (USA)

Yero,
It is hard to loose a loved one. We Muslims say "Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un ('Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return')" when such things happen.

Death is something which is inevitable and we shall all experience it one day. My sincere condolonces to your entire extended family.

Re: Thank you all for your thoughts & prayers

Dear All,

Grandma was finally laid to rest on Tuesday at around 10.00am. She is survived by many children, grandchildren, and grand-grand children.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank all those that called, sent us prayers in quietness, privately emailed, or even threaded in these forums, especially at a time when elections are at hand. The entire family was more encouraged and kept moving on progressively as a result of such support at home and abroad. It was just the propeller and candlelight we needed to wipe our tears at least temporally.

One thing that certainly stands out –grandma was my true heroine among the many women and men I happen to meet in real life or read about. Certain things were just special about her in many ways. The way she conducted herself even in her mid-eighties always and the way she dealt with neighbors on a daily basis was just something that will never be matched.

Until few years ago, she was also one of the traditional women of the village that assisted in the labor room to help mothers deliver babies. Even those of us that call her grandma will miss her; those many kids she delivered would have wished to see the traditional heroine that delivered them to life.

During the years that my mother was alive, she had a unique and special relation with grandma. I recalled almost every dinner or lunch, either myself or my sister having to carry her share of food to her. She would in turn do the same. All her produce from the groundnut farm, rice fields and local gardens were all utilized by all of us.

When I lost my mother in 1997, grandma continued her support for the family especially my dad. If there is anyone else that would miss her, it would be my father. She was equally more than a mother to him, for all the support, throughout the years.

In a nutshell, here is a woman that makes me so proud. From Allah swt we are from and to Him we shall all return. I give thanks to that Allah who does things the way He wants. I humbly implore on Him to grant grandma a heavenly paradise alongside those rightly guided.

Once again, thank you all ladies and gentlemen. Your support is unique!

Yero

(On behalf of the entire family).
