Happy new year to all. I hope the resolutions suite the year, 2006.

Below we share Lurker's remains. It is a style, and lovely. The piece appeals to me greatly.

I share Lurker's beautiful thoughts, and happy new year to all contributors here and there. I haven't seen Sab, Usa, Wiking and the many others for a long time, i guess they are taken by enjoyments or errands. (jokes.)

LURKER'S REMAINS

a warm , balmy evening, the stars glinting in the ebony sky.the gentle splash of cool, atlantic waves upon the sand, soaking up the latent heat of another day in africa. a dog barks, somewhere a djembe beats rythmically in the background and a child cries.fireworks light up the night sky in senegambia and the people feel the cool sand between their toes. julbrew tastes extra special this night, the boys are in good humour and the girls look especially pretty in the moonlight. the clocks tick away the last seconds of the year, the music loudens, the bells ring and the cheers echo across the smiling coast. maybe some of you will be lucky enough to experience this gambian new year. for those of us stuck under the flightpath near heathrow, with no plane tickets to the gambia for another year or so, we envy you, your country and your people. may the new year see a peaceful gambia, a happier, and more optimistic gambia. a gambia which sparkles like the coastal stars that shine upon its people tonight. you are very, very lucky people from where i sit! happy new year to all of you on this board. i have my own piece of gambia next to me,with our baby due in 4 weeks. we'll be back! happy 2005. - the lurker.

Happy new year to you too dalton and to all the people.

While we think about the new year in the smiling coast of Africa, as described above, we should also try and think about some of the unfortunate moments we witness in 2005..Although a lot of people all around the world have experienced wonderful monents, there are also a lot more who has been in sorrow and frustratin the whole year.

As we aproach the moment when the last digit of the year will change from 5 to 6,and as we are all prepared in one way or the other to enjoy once again the happiness that come with this moment, we will also do good by remembering our fellow humans who are not very fortunate to witness this time.

2005 has been a year of extreme weather. Some of which has led to the lost of a great number of lifes. The Earthquakes, Huricanes, Droughts,Femine etc in different parts of the world are proofs of this.In addition to these bad weathers, we have also witnessed a lot of political injustices around the world. Some of which have also cause a lot of innocent lifes.

Now that we are almost in 2006, let us hope that it is better than 2005, so that those who were happy in 05 become happier and those who were not so happy becomes happy.
I wish you all happy new year with a lot of blissings.PEACE.

I take this opportunity to wish all Bantaba contributors and visitors a happy and prosperous 2006. As we celebrate the new year, we thank God for the blessings and also remember the sick, the weak and the deceased in our prayers.

May Allah (SWT) bring back sanity to our dear country and save her from the anarchy and chaos that has been /(is) going on in some countries of the sub-region.

Dalton, imagine a day without Bantaba in Cyberspace, however would I get my fix! Somehow I always find the time for a daily read or two. Return to the stony ground in a few weeks.
Goodbye 2005 you left your mark with natural disasters, tsunami, hurricanes, and earthquakes. You showed us more war, bombings, riots and injustices; you were truly a wicked 2005. As we look forward to ‘changes’ in the New Year I wish everyone here a happy, prosperous and peaceful 2006 and thank Momodou for an excellent updated site. Freedom & Peace.
