Folks to start with i will like to recall your memories a couple of years back when infilation started rocking the Gambian market.Instead of the jammeh government coming up with a sound ecomic policies, the president believing in his might threatened the bussiness community of his personal intervention into bussiness which will definately be at the detriment of the bussiness community.

Yes Jammeh indeed have gone ahead and started intervaining into importation of basic goods such as rice, sugar, meat, flour, you name it.He started saling this imported goods at a much cheaper price than the private bussiness agent thereby forcing the private bussinesses totally out of bussiness.
But majority of Gambian bussiness men who are importers of goods have adopted a strategy which is now paying devidents. They fought and won jammeh without even speaking a word or breaking a stick, how? if you may ask me.Over the few years the importer has just abandoned importation of commodities or minimise the quantity they import to show Jammeh that private bussiness is a NO GO Intervention of the central government anywhere in the world and if you put force, they will show you their strength and sooner or later its always the government who MUST retreate.
Jammeh is now seeing that force can't run everything and the reason I boldly say this is, if you fellow his recent distribution of the sugar at the state house ground, Jammeh was feriously blaming Gambians for not taking part in bussiness venture and to my total dismay jammeh told the gathering that THIS YEAR WILL BE THE LAST TIME FOR HIM TO BRING SUGAR INTO THE COUNTRY if Gambians failed to take part in importation. But how can they if he is bringing the same comodities into the country without paying tax and custom duties to compete with private bussinesses who pay tax and customs together with tranportatin cost and premises rent?
Guys this is a clear signed that jammeh has now realise how difficult its becoming for him to continue interveining in bussiness at the same time running a goverment and the fact is His goverment CANNOT continue importation of basic goods year round without private bussiness men.
Fellow Citizens this is very sad but the fact of the matter is there are many financially abled Gambians who can bring commodities into the country but they simple decide NOT TO simply because of the above stated reasons with Jammeh BYFORCE system inplace. Now the few handful of importers who are presently bringing good into Banjul port are simpling taking advantage of our port to redistribute it further into the subregion, such as senegal, mali, and Guinea because there is free market in those countries without goverment focing them how to price their commodities. So the few Maritainians, Guineans, indians and even now Nigerians are fooling the government by taking advantage of the relatively cheaper duties at the Banjul port, they bring goods via our port but of every consignment they brought into the country, they only distribute ten of five percent and the rest they rely on the ecowas trade treaty to further them into the rest of the region while We Gambians are left to buy limited goods at sky high prices.Gambians is about time we wake up.

So who is the winner here, Jammeh or the Bussiness community?

There is no egg without a chicken, and no chicken without egg.

Dembish this observation is both critical and sharp to the dot. You have shown us how Jammeh takes going into business for granted due to his drive for money making. We have learnt from you that for purpose of cheap popularity and false show of care he plays the biggest tax evader to beat real business people in the game. You have also made it clear that the real business people have come to sense and decided turning the table on Jammeh. Finally, you clearly demonstrated how the whole Gambian economy collapsed under the novice mismanagement of a president who respects no boundary.

In short, we have learnt from you that while posing as one man for everything, Jammeh failed not just his full self but the whole nation collapses under his weight.

The lesson from all that points to one direction. Jammeh has failed to perform and needs showing the exit door. He has to be fair with himself. Possibly he thought it was easy to combine all the critical responsibilities of running a government with private business motivtion. It has not been good experience.

The most beautiful thing for business man Jammeh is to step down in total peace time. It is imposssible for one man to compete politicians and business people in different arenas. No quick fix for this massive proble created by our business man president. A real domino effect prevails.

Thank you for the lessons Dembish

Karamba you are welcome and thanks. Its an election year and I want to engage the APRC supporter on key facts, not just politics of personal attacks that they always resort to when the going is though just like jammeh himselve. You see the country will have been very intresting by now if jammeh has the gut to face the opposition on live Tv debate concerning our national issues. But he and his supporter knew the very reason why they are keeping the oppostion far away from media in the gambia.the argument any APRC supporter got is so call road development which is sickening and sinking us all in huge debt.sad, sad, very sad, totally sick and a sheer ignorance on the side of Aprc supporters.
