Thursday, July 21, 2011 The Commander of United States Africa Command Thursday called on the vice president and minister of Women’s Affairs, Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy at State House.
General Carter Ham, who was accompanied by the chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) Lt. General Masanneh Kinteh, was at State House to express his sincere appreciation to the vice president and the government of The Gambia for successfully hosting the military exercise which will be concluded today.
“It has been a wonderful opportunity for the 40 different nations to assemble here in The Gambia and participate in this very important military training. It would not have been possible without her support as well as the support of the chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen. Kinteh and the entire government,” he told reporters. General Ham said the VP was pleased with the exercise, and went on to disclose that they discussed with the CDS of GAF the possibilty of conducting a similar military exercise in the near future. He stated further that the US and The Gambia have for long enjoyed cordial ties, which they want to continue. “So we will look for areas where we can increase our cooperation,” he added.
For his part, Lt. General Massaneh Kinteh opined that the move will further act as a springboard in consolidating the already existing military ties between the two countries. He said: “This African partnership has even brought us closer and not only closer, but has brought on board other partners, that on our side would not have been able to meet. So having 40 countries in The Gambia for this exercise is a great honour for us as it has moved our relations to another level.”
It would be recalled that the exercise, which was organised by the United States government, the US Department of State for Defense and the United States Africa Command, was meant to give the participating nations a unique opportunity to once again test their military communication equipment with a view to harmonising their interoperability for future support to the African forces operations. It attracted military and civilian participants from over 40 countries from the African Continent and beyond.

OK, Moe. Let me ruin your enthusiasm for a second. Chew on this,
Quote: "...startling revelations about Yahya Jammeh’s recent attempts to cover up his crimes against humanity after he (Jammeh) refused to accept the resignation of Vice President Isatou Njie Saidy—citing the possibility of her being taken to the Hague on her alleged complicit of the murder of fourteen unarmed Gambian students in April of 2000 by the country’s security forces—in which the VP blamed the students for their own death. The VP, who is suffering from high blood pressure tendered her resignation letter this past April, according to a leaked document from the State House. She resigned from the Jammeh administration on “health grounds” but the dictator refuses to let her go, said the State House whistleblowers..." http://www.freedomnewspaper.com/Homepage/tabid/36/mid/367/newsid367/6549/Gambia--Breaking-News--Gambias-Vice-President-Resigns-On-Health-Grounds-/Default.aspx

C'mon now that's beer Fart, No one will be convicted for the students Uprising Bro, The reality is as sad as it may be, it was justifiable to a certain extent. Anyone who knows a little about Governments will tend to agree with my assertion Kitab. No one will ever be prosecuted for the student Killings, compensation is not even realistic. If it were unarmed students marching thats a whole different story, They were burning down police stations , communication facilities and even captured the Top echelons of the security detail, They should have expected the outcome bro,Note it was none other than Santa and Karamba maybe Jayanfara that was killing them, also revisit what the state did in reference to anyone one being prosecuted. They prevailed over the so called murders, That's a cheap shot, The vice president cannot and will not be held responsible for a goddamn thing, BTW Jammeh was overseas, How can anyone prosecute Him, Karmaba , Santafar and Jay are going down if anything.....................................Peace |
