WARNING, All cultures are different and maybe this posting will seem rather odd to some who cannot understand its emotional content,Personally I think its GREAT
Just surfing around the WWW I came across these words very thought provoking written by an English woman by the name of Proctor. (http://www.cyberhymnal.org/bio/p/r/procter_aa.htm)
Music by Arthur Sullivan:
Seated one day at the organ, I was weary and ill at ease, And my fingers wandered idly Over the noisy keys; I know not what I was playing, Or what I was dreaming then, But I struck one chord of music, Like the sound of a great Amen, Like the sound of a great Amen.
It flooded the crimson twilight, Like the close of an angel’s psalm, And it lay on my fevered spirit, With a touch of infinite calm, It quieted pain and sorrow, Like love overcoming strife, It seemed the harmonious echo From our discordant life, It linked all the perplexed meanings Into one perfect peace, And trembled away into silence, As if it were loth to cease; I have sought but I seek it vainly, That one lost chord divine, Which came from the soul of the organ, And entered into mine.
It may be that death’s bright angel Will speak in that chord again; It may be that only in Heav’n I shall hear that great Amen. It may be that death’s bright angel Will speak in that chord again; It may be that only in Heav’n I shall hear that great Amen.

Toubab, Poetry and music are the two things that can transcend any culture. The lyrics in a music are poetic, and you may not understand the words in the music but love it. In this instance I love both the poetry and the music. It is beautiful. |

I like the poetry lines too Toubab! Some of us have multi-cultures now. We celebrate even cinco de'mayo. lol
Personally I believe culture is just to get you set-up on a locality. You are right different cultures have different beliefs.Beyond that it is just a small world with its inhabitants called people -some white, brown, etc...but that is it -people.

I am a fan and great admirer of Inna Baba Coulibaly of Mali. Her words get through my veins like an injection. (Ndeysaan.)
Have a great day Toubab!
