... packing. Off to London tomorrow and fly to Banjul on Friday. Can't imagine a) being ready and b) being in the sunshine!

Any messages anyone would like me to take? Anyone there who would like to meet up?

ENJOY YOURSELF and if you can publish a receipe for nyebay beans and find out the proper name for the beans used if you can when you get back to UK.
EVE did promise but she hasn't posted recently, perhaps she is still in Gambia and you may meet up, who knows its quite a small country.!!

Toubab, Nyebe=Beans
The "red" you saw in your delicious nyebe is palm oil.
Perhaps you should give Lily the address of the restraunt you ate the nyebe so that she can get the correct recipe for you.

Have a save journey Lily. My son just returned from there today and the first thing he told me is that this is the best time to go there compared to summer. I don't know if I agree with him but have a nice holiday.

Momodou,Unless Lily is a person who likes to go and eat at very dark local places, where I go could in no stretch of the imagination be called anything but a workmans cafe and not really a place for a girl to go unless she is a peace and love hippy, which I am sure Lily is not.

P.S. Got to find a local supplier of Palm Oil then in the UK Hmmmmmmmmm where shall I look.........probably not Tesco's

Lily, will you still be there on the 29th? Can't believe it myself either, but i'm going then (for one week only unfortunately).
Would be nice to meet finally!
Toubab, she might be more adventurous then you'd think. Maybe even more adventurous than you are yourself.
Do you live in the country? Then i suppose palm oil might be hard to find. But the big cities must have African markets. Here you can buy it in Amsterdam and Rotterdam so why not in London?

Anna, you enjoy yourself as well,"adventurous" that was the word I myself was going to use but couldn't get the spelling right so I thought of another word I could spell have a great time and escape from the modern world of the west with all its pressures and enjoy the sun and smiles of the locals, don't forget (as if either of you would) that they have different and more serious problem than you,who knows what is hidden behind those smiles in the sun of Gambia.
Take care.

P.S. only kidding about Palm Oil I am sure its about here just not looked for it !.

Anna - I can't believe it - that's the day I come home ...... what time is your flight? I may be at the airport to welcome you. But glad to hear you're on your way again. Will be in touch when you get back to compare notes!

Hmmm dark places to eat Toubab - I've tried a few! Adventurous is my middle name (but comfort is my first.....!). I will ask my wonderful friend who lives in Farato - she is, without a doubt, the best cook in the Gambia and I am looking forward to my lunch there on saturday.

Thank you all for your good wishes

Lily,it would be great if you can, thanks,I hope you and Anna meet up at the airport, but the way things work there even if you do see one another I doubt if there will be time to sit and have a chat, pity.
