The problem being that Gambia doesnt have enough to offer the mid range or higher end tourist. Gambia has become a budget destination because of the lack of amenities.

I only found Gambia as i was determined to have some sun, the travel agent offered me the Carribean, Goa or Gambia. I had decided on Goa and only went to Gambia by default as the Hotel in Goa i wanted was full.

Eco lodges are for the minority and will not increase the amount of tourists visiting Gambia.

I still think "family" holidays are what Gambia should aim for then maybe they will start to see a change in reputation and maybe an increase in tourism.

I wouldnt take my children on holiday anywhere they needed inoculations...... or medication.....We only went to europe or usa.
I didnt think it was worth the risk to their health, but of course that is a personal choice. When my daughter is 18 she will come with me to Gambia, but then she will decide for herself about jabs and medication.

Families tend to have limited money too.....

Couples are a better bet for spending.......

ya never know she might have left home by then n travelled half way around the world by then lol

I was nervous the first time i took my son, He's now 8 and until this year i had stuck to Europe. Now i so wish i hadnt waited so long.

Quite alot of families do holiday in Gambia, alot more than there used to be.

Couples are a great market but a harder market to entice. As younger couples want abit more action and older couples tend to want their luxuries.

I feel that Gambia needs to get itself away from the singles market and the reputation is has developed.

i totally understand that! I was only nervous of the side effects of the Malarone. Thankfully there were none! I only waited cos i wanted him to be a decent age so he could explain how he was feeling properly. Plus there was no way id have been able to keep him still for 6 hours as a toddler lol

I agree USA is dangerous in a totally different way...fine if you stick to tourist routes...but if you take a wrong turn it can be deadly. We had a few scary moments......
