hi there peeps it is hot during the day but cold at night.
the bumsters have tripled,
the hotels are 40 - 60% empty,

I arrived at 4.30pm on friday, 30 minutes after a thomas cook flight, it was choas, we were left on the runaway waiting for the coach to drop off when set off passengers and come back for us.
Going through passpost control only three gates open, there is capacity for 4,
conveyor belts confusions which flight was on which conveyor belt.
Immigration wanted to x-ray every single suitcase, in the space of one hour 600+ pax arrived , one xray machine, what nonsense. it took two hours to clear the airport.
When will they stop xraying all suitcases, it is not possible, and it is not a good image.
Loving the building that is going along the road from airport to senegambia, but as a seasoned traveller I can see the neglect, why do parts of the gambia just look neglected. Opposite the craft market at senegambia there was a large cafe/sports bar, that has gone, could some one not clear it up and plant something.
I am at palma rima, how neglected is this hotel, front and inside, i understand that it is not GTA fault but they could speak to the owner about clearing up the garden. a lot of hotels have that attitude, but appearances matter.
LOCK UP THE BUMSTERS, AROUND palma rima it is too much, walking down to the beach, they just do not stop talking.
today I am going to Tanji, but as I travel around and speak to the locals, same speech different year/month, gambia is not easy.
Petrol is too expensive, rice has gone, BUT NOT PEOPLES WAGES.
WELL FIX IT. SORT OUT THE TRAFFIC, SORT OUT THE ROADS, SORT OUT THE POWER CUT OFFS/OUT, PAY THE PEOPLE A DECENT WAGE.
GAMBIA DESERVES TO BE FURTHER ALONG THAN IT IS.

Jambo,Pleased to read that you are happy to be in Gambia, but I am also sad at many things that you write, the smiling coast has taken a further step on the downward spiral and is gradually sinking into a state of decay through neglect and depresson, your hopes of improvements and care have not been realised, people are unhappy, things broken, your airport example shows this, very unusual for customs to take such care in their work by examining every item of 600 passengers !
Plenty of Bumsters (unemployed youths looking for a living).
Your sentence "but as I travel around and speak to the locals, same speech different year/month, Gambia is not easy." sums up the Gambia of today. Pity.

Its all been said man many tims before and still it goes on on and on
For me Gambia I think has been in terminal decline for a number of years now and is now a lost couse. The average Gambian is not interested and the gouvenment is incompatent at best. So you are just wasting your breath. That is why in the main its been a very lng time since I replied to any other threads except Travel
