Recent tragedies in Japan have left most of us stunned, reminiscent of the shock waves after the one in Haiti. It will take many years if not forever for this nation to recover from such a natural disaster. The display of discipline from the side of the Japanese in this trying moment is one for the rest of the world to learn from. The orderly manner in which they faced chaos is extra ordinary. Global expressions of sympathy continue to pour in. I tried the empathy in me. My ability look look at the phenomenon like a victim would. How would I feel if, God forbid, this was Gambia? I immediately started googling google to see how vulnerable we are to earthquakes. I was relieved to have found out that even though earthquakes can occur in any region, the probabilities for its occurence in our part of the world is very low. Here is a presentation I found online which I hope you find interesting. The file is in PDF format.
