Alleged lunatic kills 3-year-old girl in URR

One Dembo Ceesay, a 20-year-old man believed to be mentally imbalance, is reported to have caused the death of one Fatoumata Fofana, a 3-year-old girl by hitting her on the head with an axe in the village of Lamoi, Kantora District, URR. The incident is said to have occurred on the 18th of February 2011 between the hours of 06:00am and 06:30am.
When contacted to shed light on the incident, the commissioner of police in Upper River Region, Ebrima Cham, confirmed the story. He also revealed that the said lunatic was brought to Lamoi village from Diabugu village to be locally treated by one Kankaba Waggeh, the Imam of the village. He also reveled that the lunatic was under control, but escaped in the village before meeting the innocent girl and hit her to death.
Mam Sillah of Diabugu Bataba and Mahamadou Fofana of Lamoi are the parents of the deceased.

This 3-year old is really helpless, poor her! RIP!
This again puts very clearly that the mentally sick should be off the streets, otherwise society is not entirely safe. It becomes everyones' responsibility moreso an institution that call itself a Gov't to step in and resolve the problem.
