Forwarded from the following websites:-

1. Maafanta.com NEW YEAR MESSAGE OF MR. OUSAINU DARBOE, SECRETARY GENERAL AND PARTY LEADER OF THE UNITED DEMOCRATIC PARTY 2011 under http://www.maafanta.com/Ousainu2011NewyearMessage.html

2. Jollof on-line news Lawyer Darboe’s New Year Message under http://www.jollofnews.com/lawyer-darboes-new-year-message.html

SELECTION OF VERY STRONG STATEMENTS FOR 2011 ELECTIONS AS QUOTED!

  • "With the forthcoming elections, the media has a primordial role to play in its credibility and fairness. The media's role in the dissemination of information and differing opinions is accepted and recognized by all democratic governments as a sine qua non to good governance. The official media, particularly GRTS, must, in the interest of the nation, not only be objective in the dissemination of information but must also cover the activities of all political parties."

  • "A defining event in the annals of the United Democratic Party was the holding of the National Congress in Soma in June, 2010. Not only did it bring together a record number of delegates from all the constituencies, but the quality of officials elected to lead the party into the second decade of the millennium, starting with the 2011 elections, indicate the hope and trust that the Gambian people have in our party to dig this country out of the quagmire that it presently finds itself."

  • "2011 is a pivotal year in which Gambians will have to decide from among competing visions in elections scheduled to take place in the coming months. On the one hand they can choose to continue the status-quo in which most Gambians are trapped in grinding poverty, fearful of their own government, and wondering what the future holds for them and their children. The other choice is for Gambians to choose CHANGE for the better."

  • "The fight for justice requires every Gambian to see him or herself as a victim in waiting whose liberty is directly tied to the extent each is willing create an environment in which his or her rights are respected. If we stand together and draw from the best of our traditions we shall create a nation that is worthy of its people where the government is never an instrument of repression and every citizen can pursue their dreams unencumbered by an overbearing state."

  • "We ask all our citizens to be an integral part of the change they seek by getting involved in whatever capacity suits them.Change is always a difficult task and along the way it is easy to become despondent, fearful, tired, angry, and sometimes be tempted to throw in the towel. But because the cause we have embarked upon is a just one that must be pursued, we must all strive harder to achieve these important goals. We however, can do it only if we come together as one and face the opponent. This cause is bigger than any individual or group of individuals."

  • "In this regard, the United Democratic Party extends its hand of friendship and cooperation in sincerity and love for our Motherland, to all progressive forces whose aim is to bring positive and democratic change in this country. We therefore call on the present members of the opposition parties to rally round and join hands with the UDP to remove this dictatorial and undemocratic government that we have been burdened with for the a long sixteen year. "

A CAREFULLY WORDED EXCELLENT MESSAGE & HOPE WE (THE CYBER OPPOSITION ELITES, AMATEURS, LUNATICS, PSYCHOPATHS & OPINIONATED) WOULD BECOME SOBER TO STOP UNDERMINING SOLIDARITY & PARTNERSHIP TOWARDS THE COMMON GOOD

WE ("ALL CITIZENS THAT WANT TO BE AN INTEGRAL PART OF CHANGE") MUST MOBILISED OURSELVES TOGETHER AS THE MASS PUBLIC OPINION READY FOR IT

THEREFORE THERE IS NEED FOR THOSE (NOT ON THE FRONT LINE) TO CEASE FIRE, RECONCILE OUR DIFFERENCES OF OPINIONS, RAMBLINGS, RANTS & SACRIFICE CONFLICTING INDIVIDUAL, GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS & PARTISAN INTERESTS FOR A NATIONAL CAUSE; AS UDP LEADER DECLARED; "This cause is bigger than any individual or group of inviduals!"

FURTHERMORE THERE ARE NO DIFFERENCE IN POSITION WITH OTHER OPPOSITION PARTIES, ESPECIALLY PDOIS/NADD; IF WE EXPOUND ON THESE STATEMENTS FROM UDP LEADER;"We however, can do it only if we come together as one and face opponent" = UNDER ONE UMBRELLA & A BIG CHALLENGE

1. SO ADVOCACY UNDER ONE UMBRELLA CAN ONLY BE CATERED FOR WITH "MERGER OF POLITICAL PARTIES" CONSTITUTIONALLY & DEMOCRATICALLY TOWARDS THE COMMON GOOD

2. OUR POLITICAL CRISES IS ABOUT MOBILISING MASS PUBLIC OPINION & SUPPORT TO A COALITION/ALLIANCE/UNITED FRONT TO ELIMINATE JAMMEH/APRC FOR RADICAL CHANGE

AM HIGHLY IMPRESSED WITH THIS NEW YEAR MESSAGE FROM UDP!

BASED ON THIS MESSAGE; ANYONE WITH DIFFERENCE OF OPINIONS (AS DIGESTED) IS WELCOME TO CONTRIBUTE WHAT BETTER WAY TO MOBILISE STRATEGICALLY & TACTICALLY AGAINST JAMMEH/APRC BY ALL OPPONENTS!

QUOTES:"If the Beautiful Words will be Beautiful Deeds, Better Gambia will be built in 2011 " Daily news

More from related Bantaba Gambian politics topic 2010 Was a successful year says Jammeh under http://www.gambia.dk/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10178

IT APPEARS THAT A NEW FRONT IS OPEN BY UDP LEADER & ULTIMATELY A SOLUTION TO THE IMPASSE HAS A LAST MINUTE CHANCE FOR 2011

now that we have heard a very welcoming message from UDP which is very encouraging. Am appealling to all of us who are opposition supporters to unite and work together to bring the leaders to sit on table table and discuss. first we should give the leaders a deadline to solve their problem and it shouldnt be more than three months. Secondly we give them strict option that both of them leaders if they fail to have an agreement then they should resign from there post. I dont see any point of them contesting a loosing election like the last time. We all show out our outstanding support for the opposition so now is the time to spend more time on strategy and ahead planning than grilling each other. Viva la gambia.

Words may be more specific, but I bet the outcome will be the same,no joining of parties, why ? easy answer EVERYONE WANTS TO BE THE LEADER,result still no effective opposition to the present administration.

YES ITS A HOSTILE POLITICAL SITUATION! THERE IS ALREADY THE GREEN REVOLUTION AND A STRONG APRC GOVERNMENT & WE SHOULD AVOID DENIALS OF COMPLEX DIFFICULT POLITICAL REALITIES ON THE GROUND

ANY LAST MINUTE CHANCE FOR SOUND STRATEGIC IDEAS THAT CAN SUPPORT OPPONENTS WITH MASS MOBILISATION OF PUBLIC OPINION(S) TO EXERCISE GENERAL DISSENT THROUGH THE BALLOT BOX, DEMOCRATICALLY & PEACEFULLY; (WITH ALL THE ALLEGED CRIMES/STATE TERROR, NOISES & PROPAGANDA)

WHERE IS THE DYNAMISM OF OUR SO-CALLED ELITES, INTELLECTUALS, VIBRANT PARTY MILITANTS ALWAYS RAMBLING/RANTING IN CYBERSPACE & POLITICAL LEADERS ON FOLLOWING TWO DECLARATIONS & CHALLENGE FROM UDP LEADER'S MESSAGE; FOR ALL OPPONENTS (INCLUDING DARBOE HIMSELF)

1. "This cause is bigger than any individual or group of inviduals!"

2."We however, can do it only if we come together as one and face opponent"

United we stand, divided we fall and remember we can only make it work but only if we try. This are words of wisdom and that we all kept repeating forever. My brothers this is a time were we all are sad and angry because someone is playing foul to our families and loveones in the name of patriotic and even calling us unpatriotics because we refused to help him killed our people for his own good. We all know the enemy and to joined this struggle we are awared of the consequencies. You might be banned from entering your own country and even risk been kill, so by now we all know the risk. You asked me how ?ideas and strategies ? Thats simple and i will contribute one of my dull ideas ? Firstly we should shake hands now and apologised to each other that it was nice to point out our different point of viewed. speaking freely its part of the change we want and that most of us called democracy. So it was positive to change ideas and challenge each other little bit so we all know by now everyone of us are ready and aware of the realities on the ground. We support different ideas and thats why we have political parties and support them because they reflect our utopist ideas.
Secondly after shaking hands we should called our unification successful and give it a name. The name i suggest is called( United for life)and our moto is (nyato). We should always go forward and consider the past as history. If we take this serious and unite ourselfs then the leaders will hear about it and take us more serious. To see all opposition leaders come together and represent themself to the gambian public it will give the APRC a big shock and tell them this time it will not be the same like the last time. The APRC hates to admitted how scared they get when NADD was formed. This time time we will make sure our leaders hold hands and embrace each other like a camerads. Oh my god how nice to see Halifa and Darbo hold hands and laugh and jokes and passing the microphone to each other by introducing each other as brother and a friend. Am i dreaming now because we are already winning when we are waving flags and leader chanting jippo and talking about reconcilliation. This are the first steps towards vicotry and i would come more with more weak ideas. VIva la Gambia.
