Media reports can only give us an idea to the growth. The truth is getting an accurate figure is difficult because of the 'bias' that may be involved. If we go by the mosques' head count, how about the others that don't take their 'shahadah' in the surveyed mosques, may be some even took theirs out side great Britain. In the US as well, I heard from one of the local Imams in Minnesota that the number of converts has drastically increased especially in the last decade. I believe many are curious to know what it entails, and in their efforts to satisfy their curiosity find solace in Islam, the same way the great disciple Omar (RA) accepted faith. This is not new. Many are obviously aware of Omar's own contribution towards Islam. The down side of things is true, that is say, the tendency of some 'terror' recruiters to indoctrinate healthy minds for the evil. I know critics like to hang onto this in an effort to discredit or criticize Islam, and such an act must be fully acknowledged and condemned. The problem is indoctrination takes many forms. It is not only religiously driven. It can be political, racial, tribal, geographical, or just out of mere hate, jealousy, arrogance, disobedience, and absolute stupidity and idiocy. It is just the tendency to pollute a healthy mind for the evil for whatever justifiable reason the criminals want to advance.
Having said the above, especially in the current age we are in, "Era of terror", it is fascinating to see people in numbers embracing Islam everywhere, despite all the negativity out there. If there are any converts here, I would like to know from the horses’ mouth what led to your converting to Islam. I am really curious to know. Please bring it on as time permits you….& thanks for finding time share.
