Merry Christmas and a Happy new year to ALL!

STATEMENT OF FACT QUOTED; "The very etymology of the word Christmas comes from a compound meaning of 'Christ's Mass' and is derived from an Old English phrase first recorded 1038.

1. Interesting story from this link Our Desperate Need for Christmas under http://pastorchrisowens.wordpress.com/2010/12/02/our-desperate-need-for-christmas/

2. However a Christian group is pouring scorn on Christmas celebrations and comparing Santa to Satan . More news from The Sun newspaper; A SCROOGE church group has compared Santa to SATAN - and advised parents to tell kids that he is not real. under http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3288097/Christian-denomination-Assemblies-of-God-calls-aspects-of-festive-season-sinful.html

i absolutely love it when people moan about christmas, as a christian in the UK i have three religious holidays, christmas, easter, 3days only, so why do people make a fuss.
a church group, CHURCH GROUP. if they are complaining about santa, then that is to do with commercialisation of the festival. the religious aspect of the event has been lost and as a result people forget why it is happening.
this conversation and train of thought will not go away. so BAH HUMBUG TO THEM ALL,
PEACE BE WITH YOU, I WILL BE ATTENDING MASS as normal.

AMEEN Jambo. MAY PEACE BE WITH YOU ALSO!

THE POWER OF FAITH (DEEP IN THE HEART), SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT & ENLIGHTENMENT (IN OUR MINDS) ARE CONSIDERED IMPORTANT; SO THERE IS NEED TO LEARN AS MUCH ON THE FACTS OF ALL RELIGIONS IN ORDER TO AVOID GOING ASTRAY, DIS-ILLUSIONS & EASILY IDENTIFY THE COSMETICS ETC.

HENCE ESSENCE OF TOPIC IS FOR AWARENESS ON ILLUSIONS & FANTASY!

amen kobo, it is good to talk,i think a lot of todays conversations are due to people being knowledgeable, and educated. at one time you believed what you were taught, but as more people are going to university, gap years travel, work travel people are asking more questions.
christainity is not the only religion under going a change, look at muslim religion. when i grew wearing a headwrap was not the norm, being covered up yes that was, i remember girls at my school wearing their uniform, two long plaits and taking part in sports, netball, hockey, they wore, tracksuit bottoms, or long shorts, but they took part. they did not ask for any uniform allowances, sikh boys did not wear turbuns, they just wore their hair up and the top know covered. we have three religious holidays in uk, christmas day, good friday, easter sunday. Other religions just worked their holidays to cover their days.
now religion is used for political power, I am glad the uk has a royal family and a separate political power. look at the countries where they are the same family.
life goes on but it is good that you live in a society that allows you to ask such questions.

peace be with

Jambo let no one spoil the beauty of other christmas tradition that goes with love, fun and happiness on a positive note?

Santa is more of folklore tales of fun that brought smiles and wonderful dreams to kids than Satanic; in my opinion. The shopping spree and extravaganza depends on choices, prudence, wisdom or "to cut your coat according to your size" etc. During this time there are merry making and carnivals across the whole world; even in muslim countries. In Gambia; instead of Santa we have our "Makalo, kankurangs, Zimba, Kaka Devils hunting, Fanaals, Lanteens " etc.

Similar to Christmas is the muslim "Maulud Nabi" dedicated to holy Prophet. The similarities are that for Christmas the christians annually are reminded of Christ deeds & with prayers for them to love him more. Also Same with Mawlud Nabi objective of refreshing us on deeds of ALL Prophets, history and day Islam & Prophet Muhamaad (s.a.w) were born. Therefore we should acknowledge the FACT THAT MUSLIMS AND CHRISTIANS HAVE BEEN CELEBRATING IN SHARING BOTH PRAYERS & MERRY MAKING AS A LONG STANDING TRADITION TOGETHER. WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER TO BREAK BARRIERS, BUILD BRIDGES AND HARMONISE TOWARDS THE RIGHT PATH OF LOVE, FREEDOM & PEACE FOR ALL MANKIND ("YAA BAANI ADAM")!

SO LIVE & LET OTHERS LIVE!
LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR!
DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD WISH DO UNTO TO YOU!
HE THAT IS WITHOUT SIN AMONG YOU, LET HIM FIRST CAST A STONE!
YOU ONTO YOUR RELIGION I ONTO MY RELIGION!

"Beware of Satan for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things."

"All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black, nor a black has any superiority over a white- except by piety and good action."

WE ARE ALWAYS CONFUSED WITH POLITICS AND MANY PREACHERS ARE MIS-LEADING US!

EVERY CHRISTMAS REMINDS ME MY CHILD HOOD DAYS; SINGING HYMNS AND CHRISTMAS CAROLS; ESPECIALLY MY FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS CAROL NOTES;

"While sheperds watch their flocks by night!
"All seated on the ground!"

ENJOY http://www.carols.org.uk/while_shepherds_watched.htm

LET EVERYONE ENJOY PEACE THEY DESERVED IN THIS WORLD!

Koto Kobo,

Great job! Merry X-Mas to our Christian brothers & Sisters.

The Prophet Esa (PBUH), Jesus as can be fondly called is named as one of the five (5) top prophets/messengers in Islam. God Almighty also dedicated a special surah (chapter) to Jesus' mother, "Surah Mariam/Mary." So many miraculous things are mentioned in the Quran about Jesus, including speaking at the cradle, healing the sick, his ascend to the heavens, his coming down at the end of time, his steadfastness, his miraculous birth -born without a father, being of the "Ruh hul lah" (Spirit of God), etc...Factually, I love Jesus. On a humorous note, I have more than a gut feeling, as Africans (blacks), in seeing Jesus as one of our own. I know this is an interesting one, but I strongly feel that way. Sometimes, I can't help my instinct. Seeing how blacks suffered throughout history, it resembles to that meted to Jesus as well. Anta Diop’s thesis that the Egyptians were of the Negro raises serious proofs that the black man came a long way, in the case for Moses and Haruna (PBUT). The Queen of Siba’s connection to Abyssinia (Ethiopia) also says a lot.I heard that the description of Jesus' hair in the bible, is enough to hang onto, to celebrate him as a black Prophet. All said and done, the fact remains, he was a great Prophet of God, one that ruled with justice, equality, and peace.

Thanks always...I wish you an enjoyable holiday!

Yero.

"There is no god but Allah (SWT); and Muhammad (SAW)is His last messenger." shahadah. Fear & Worship Allah (SWT) Alone! (:

Christmas is very commercialised these days.

Christmas to me means the birth of a special baby.

It means family gatherings with good food and wine.

I love carols and a visit to church.

I like my Christmas tree and cards, which were part of a Victorian Christmas.

At it's heart it is simple. Peace. Goodwill.

Record crowds gather in Bethlehem under http://news.uk.msn.com/world/articles.aspx?cp-documentid=155667727

NOTE: " Only one third of Bethlehem's 50,000 residents are Christian today, down from about 75% in the 1950s. The rest are Muslims."
