APRC Supporters Condemn Kingship Campaign
By Kebba Y Drammeh
Monday, December 06, 2010

The ruling Alliance for Patriotism Reconciliation and Construction (APRC) youth leader in Niani Jakaba village, in Central River region has condemned the infamous campaign, which is being mounted by some “revert thinking’ political authorities to crown President Jammeh as king.
“I do not support the idea of transforming The Gambia into a kingdom, because it is not our [APRC] interest,” Mr Kalifa Sillah told The Daily News. “Infact, is this a joke? I don’t support it at all.”
“This is not possible,” said Morro Sillah, also a supporter of the ruling party. “I have already informed my family that no one should vote for “yes” in case there is a referendum.”
The campaign to transform The Gambia into a kingdom is being led by traditional chiefs, who have recently toured the whole country pushing the agenda, after the president delivered some vehicles to the Chiefs’ council.
However, the campaign, which started undercover, has been greeted with growing criticism, after it was made public during a meeting held at State House attended by local chiefs, cabinet ministers, ruling party parliamentarians and stalwarts. The president, too, was in attendance.
“There is no room for kingship in The Gambia,” says, Habibou Njie, APRC supporter in Brikama Gidda, because it implies that president Jammeh’s family will own the country. “We are APRC today and tomorrow, but we will never vote “yes” in the referendum, if ever it comes-up to that.”
Batch Samba Low, a businessman at Brikama market also said: “Although I am APRC supporter, I do not support the kingship campaign because it is detrimental to our freedom.”
Baboucarr Gaye of Nymbai also said, “Me and my family are 100 percent APRC, but we are saying no to Jammeh’s kingdom because it is not in our interest.”

Come on people, speak up. Stand up for your rights. Down with delusion.

Yaya turning into king amounts to Gambians turning into his subjects.

No,No, No, stop Yaya sinking Gambia. Surely, Yaya needs a proper fix. Where is this greedy rogue coming from with such dead idea?

We want no king, We want our normal life back; life taken away by bandits posing as what!!!!
