1.Gambian leader to attend ECOWAS Summit in Ivory Coast

The president of the Republic, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya Jammeh, will leave Banjul International Airport at 2pm, today, Thursday March 27th to attend the 44th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS heads of state and government summit in Yamoussoukro, Cote D’Ivoire, the presidency announced yesterday.

“Those expected to attend the usual ceremonies are urged to be at the airport at least half an hour before departure,” the press release stated.

President John Dramani Mahama has been elected unanimously as the new Chair of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government for a one year term.

The Ghanaian President takes over from President Alassane Ouattara of La Cote d’Ivoire.

President Mahama is scheduled to give his acceptance speech at the Closing Session of the ongoing ECOWAS Summit on Saturday, 29 March 2014 at Yamoussoukro, La Côte d’Ivoire.
