AFRICAN LEADERS SHOULD STOP BEING PROTESTORS AND BUILD THE CONTINENT THE COLONIALISTS FAILED TO BUILD
Foroyaa Editorial: Published on Thursday, 06 March 2014

Everywhere one turns to on the continent there is either poverty, or war, or both. Instead of governments declaring war against hunger and injustice and make the African people free, dignified and prosperous, they are busy reminding us of what colonialists had failed to do and are accusing western governments of protecting tiny minorities on the continent. What they should be doing after five decades of Independence is to show how they have departed from the colonial path and have built the model states that are worthy of emulation.

Instead of accusing their own citizens as tiny minorities under the protection of the West, they should have shown more interest in finding how their societies gave birth to the type of citizens they have and how they relate to them with the respect necessary to enable each to understand all behaviours and how to address them in such a way that the world would gather lessons from such countries.
The world will never respect Africa if its leaders isolate and maltreat their own citizens and call them all sorts of derogatory names. Others would always come to their protection and blaming them is to cover up one’s lack of capacity to solve one’s own internal problems by humane means.
Genuine leaders must look at the problem of every citizen and address it to the satisfaction of every just human being on this earth. Genuine leaders should not divert the attention of the people from the major issues which affect their lives and focus on ostracising the vulnerable in their midst.
