CAR interim President Michel Djotodia resigns

 Central African Republic's interim President Michel Djotodia has resigned at a regional summit aimed at ending violence that has engulfed the country.
PM Nicolas Tiengaye also resigned at the meeting in Chad.
Thousands of people took to the streets in CAR's capital, Bangui, most of them celebrating the news.
Mr Djotodia, CAR's first Muslim leader, seized power last year. Since then 20% of the population have fled fighting between Christian and Muslim militias.

2. Muslims Flee Central African Republic's Capital

Thousands of Muslims climbed aboard trucks protected by heavily armed Chadian soldiers in a mass exodus Friday from the capital of Central African Republic. Their flight follows months of escalating attacks on anyone perceived as supporting a now-defunct Muslim rebel government blamed for scores of atrocities during its rule of this predominantly Christian country.
In The Hague, Netherlands, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court announced a preliminary investigation into potential war crimes or crimes against humanity in Central African Republic, saying the crisis has "gone from bad to worse" since September.
Along the streets of Bangui, crowds of Christians gathered to cheer the convoy's departure for the neighboring country of Chad, which is mostly Muslim. It was an acrid farewell to their Muslim neighbors who had in some cases lived alongside Christians for generations here and have few ties to Chad....

4. Man lynched in Central African Republic, court plans probe

(Reuters) - An angry crowd killed and mutilated a man who fell from a truck filled with Muslims fleeing the capital of Central African Republic on Friday, witnesses said, while an international court said it would probe alleged crimes committed there.
The attack was the second incident of a public, daylight lynching this week as inter-communal violence rages between the country's majority Christian population and the mostly Muslim Seleka, whose ten-month rule ended in January.
One man toppled from the convoy and was killed by a crowd, with his hands and genitals cut off, Peter Bouckaert, Human Rights Watch emergencies coordinator, told Reuters......

A group of soldiers in the Central African Republic lynched a man they suspected was a rebel minutes after hearing the new president's promise to restore security at a ceremony to reinstate the divided country's armed forces.
About 20 uniformed soldiers accused a member of the crowd of having belonged to Seleka - the mostly Muslim rebel group that seized power in a coup last March, before stabbing him repeatedly until he was dead.
A soldier stamped on the lifeless body, which was then dragged nearly naked through the streets as residents looked on and took photographs....
