The magistrate’s court in Brikama yesterday sentenced Eighty Bafuneh, a Somali national after finding him guilty of damaging Nawec electric cables and water pipes in Brikama.
Delivering judgment, Magistrate Isatou Njie said the prosecution “has proven their case beyond reasonable doubt.” She fined him to fines of D2, 000, D10, 000 and D2, 000 in default to serve six months, 12 months and six months in prison to run concurrently.
Police prosecutor Sgt Bobo Jarju stated that on 6 November last year, Bafuneh unlawfully entered Nawec premises in Brikama and damaged electric cables valued at DI, 375 and cut pipes resulting in water waste valued at D13, 375.
He also stated that the Somali stole Nawec’s electric cables of the same value.
