A Single mother of several children was sent to cesspit mile 2 for allegedly insulting President Adama Barrow.
This seems to go against freedom of speech in the New Gambia. Therefore an investigation into her case needs to be conducted.
Alongside a Freedom of Speech charter stating what it actually means and what is and what is not acceptable under the Charter.
A new broom sweeps clean but an old broom knows every corner. The sentencing must fit the crime. Children need their parents. The Magistrate seems to be following guidance from Jammeh's Regime conducting business as usual.
A message needs to be sent out by the new administration that Magistrates seek guidance from the Ministry of Justice before sending non criminal cases to Mile 2. Also Mile 2 needs to be fumigated before new prions are sent into those dehumanising conditions.where possible non criminal cases could be given Community Service. In this case the sentence does not fit the crime. Instead it shines a light over the competence of the Magistrate residing o er the case and the Police.
Its seems screening, retraining and dismissal are tools to be used in flushing out repressive methods of Jammeh'impunitive state machinery.
After all there are numerous upstanding ethicial Gambians who are more than suitable to fill any vacancies within the judiciary and police force to ensure a more equitable Gambia.
