Barrow is now sworn in and has become the legitimate President and commander in chief of the armed forces. He can then legally ask for help to remove The rebel occupying the state house. |

I've read loads of stuff about Barrow being sworn in and how things are going to be different but at the time of writing this unless there have been any more developments Jammeh is still in the State House. So what is it going to take for Barrow to actually be able to act as the new President. It was a clever move by the Big man to instigate a state of emergency situation because he knows many Gambians and others who live there are scared and he knows many thousands have left in a state of panic. My neighbour went with her children and mother to Guinea Bissau on Tuesday. Took her 4 hours to get from Westfield to Brikama. Another friend sent his wife and 7 children to Cassamance about a month ago. Every Gambian I have spoken to tell me that they hate Jammeh for what he has done over the 22 years but then they qualify that by saying that Gambians are peaceful people and they don't want any violence. So here's a thing, if you can't talk someone like Jammeh into relinquishing his power what you gonna do. Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire however uncomfortable this may seem. Barrow cannot be President of TG whilst in Senegal. I think that ultimately whether tomorrow or the next day or soon he needs the help of ECOWAS troops to displace Jammeh. How that plays out remains to be seen ?! Anyone out there got a view on this. |
